Lakeside Medical Center is a longstanding healthcare facility with deep roots in the Pine City community. Originally, the location was the site of a beautiful Victorian house overlooking Cross Lake, constructed in 1887 by Theodore Buselmeier. The property became a central part of the community’s history when a brewery operated on the land for many years, establishing its presence and significance in the region.
A major transformation occurred in 1937 when the property was converted into a hospital, known then as Lakeside Memorial Hospital. This transition marked the beginning of its service to the people of the surrounding area, providing essential medical care in a facility with a strong sense of history and place. In July of 1958, the hospital saw new management and was converted into a nursing home, further extending its healthcare services to those in need of long-term care.
In December 1968, on-site management of Lakeside Nursing Home was taken over, guiding the facility through years of service and adaptation. The name was officially changed to Lakeside Medical Center in 1984, a decision that reflected the evolution of the facility’s mission: to provide comprehensive health care services to the communities of southern Pine County and northern Chisago County. Today, the facility includes both hospital and nursing home components, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to meeting a variety of health care needs in the local area.
The guiding philosophy at Lakeside Medical Center is centered on delivering high-quality services, ensuring that patients and residents receive attentive and personal care. While the facility handles a wide array of health needs, all specialty services are referred to the metro area, emphasizing a model of comprehensive general care complemented by connections to larger regional resources. Throughout its long history, including its beginnings as a family home and brewery, Lakeside Medical Center has remained dedicated to serving its community with compassion and professionalism.
