    Unsafe understaffed unsanitary poorly managed

I lived here and it was unacceptable. Staffing was inadequate-nights especially ran themselves, calls went unanswered, and residents were left unattended (even during a fire drill). My medications were often late or not given, the doctor never saw me, and staff dismissed concerns with poor communication and no accountability. Meals were cold or late and tasted bad; showers and laundry were inconsistent and clothes lost. The building was dirty with a strong urine smell and puddles at the entrance, no gloves available, rude front desk staff, and overall it felt unsafe and poorly run.

About Abbey Woods Center For Rehabilitation And Healing

Abbey Woods Center for Rehabilitation and Healing is a for-profit nursing home run by a corporation, and it sits at 31 certified beds as of January 2024, where folks can get both skilled nursing care and short-term rehab. The facility's had a C grade on both health and facility inspections and a B-plus nurse quality grade, doing better when it comes to preventing major falls and pressure ulcers, though there've been some government fines and deficiencies in recent years. Residents get help with daily things like bathing, dressing, eating, transfers, and medication management, and there's a 24-hour call system and supervision for those who need a watchful eye. Abbey Woods accepts Medicare and Medicaid, which can help a lot with the costs for those who qualify.

Rooms come furnished with private bathrooms, Wi-Fi, cable TV, telephones, kitchenettes, and air conditioning, so you can expect comfort and some privacy. Residents can join in on a social environment with things like resident-run activities, family and resident councils, community-sponsored events, and organized programs for recreation, games, and fitness. The community offers lots of choices for eating, from restaurant-style dining to professional chef services and meals to fit allergies or food restrictions, along with all-day dining and an accessible dining room. Housekeeping, laundry, dry cleaning, and transportation services are available to help manage chores and errands while staying there.

If you're looking for amenities, there's a library, arts room, game room, movie theater, places for fitness, and walking paths outdoors, with planned daily activities to fill the day if someone wants to get involved. For health needs beyond the basics, the staff can provide speech, occupational, and physical therapy, cardiac and pain management, stroke and wound care, tracheotomy and IV therapy, diabetes help, dentistry, podiatry, pharmacy, X-ray, and nutritional counseling, along with different therapies and inpatient rehab meant to help folks regain strength and work back up to being more independent. The place is mainly for people who need medical support as they recover or who have conditions that make daily living hard. Abbey Woods also provides some non-ambulatory care, emergency alert systems, and help moving in for new residents. There's no available information about any special services, unique programs, or continuing care retirement community options at Abbey Woods, but people can visit their website for more details.
