Cranford Park Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center sits in the Cranford Township area of New Jersey, right in a historic building that once was the home of the Charles E. Kaltenbach family, so you're getting a place with some local roots and a bit of history behind it. The center offers short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and transitional care, including a sub-acute wing for people who need a little more help during hard times, and it also has secure units for folks with dementia. There's physical, occupational, and speech therapy, along with post-surgical care, pain management, and IV therapy, all with individual treatment plans to suit different needs as residents come in, and you'll find attending physicians, a Medical Director, a Director of Nursing, a full-time nurse practitioner who's there five days a week, skilled nurses, certified nursing assistants, and therapists, so most care is handled by dedicated staff who are there for daily rounds and to coordinate with families. The place gets reviews that average around 4.1 from 52 people, and it's been serving the Cranford community for generations, which helps it keep that familiar, home-like feel even after recent renovations refreshed the sub-acute and long-term care units. Residents have access to amenities to make life comfortable, services for health and safety, and family involvement is a big part of the daily routine, with cultural, educational, religious, and social activities running every week. The center provides transportation, respite care if caregivers need a break, and there's a focus on keeping residents active and involved, with recreational programs, wellness activities, and daily events. Their multidisciplinary team helps ensure care matches every person's needs, and there's always an effort to involve families, keep everyone informed, and try to help residents recover, stay well, and feel at home.

Great caregivers poor facility oversight
I have mixed feelings. The nurses and CNAs are excellent - warm, attentive and skilled - and the family-run feel, lovely grounds and pet visits made my loved one comfortable. But the building is old, dark and plain (some rooms are triple-occupancy), activities and food are limited, communication from administration is poor, and I witnessed care/cleanliness problems (bedsores, C. diff, cold/microwaved meals) that suggest management is money-focused and unresponsive. Recommend only if you prioritize direct caregiving over facility condition and oversight.
