    Clean, caring staff; occasional understaffing

I've been impressed with River Ridge - very clean, lovely grounds, good food, roomy accommodations and top-notch rehab; DON Scott and the staff are caring and attentive. It's generally well run and I'd recommend it, but note ongoing staffing shortages/high turnover and occasional weekend understaffing that can affect resident care and atmosphere.

    About River Ridge Living Center

River Ridge Living Center sits on a quiet 30-acre property in a residential area, with a total of 120 certified beds and an average of 113 residents daily, so things don't usually feel too crowded, and you'll find a range of care types including long-term care, short stays, and subacute rehab, while rehabilitation services come with a big, modern gym full of high-tech equipment for physical, occupational, and speech therapy, which therapists adjust for each person's needs, and they do aim to help short-term rehab patients get home in about two to three weeks whenever possible, but there have been some issues in recent inspections, like a nutrition and dietary deficiency related to food handling, and another when some residents didn't get the special eating utensils they needed, though there wasn't any actual harm, there was a citation for pest control, and federal standards on infection have been cited too, with a total of 22 deficiencies reported just in March 2025, and 37 across several years, so the inspection record's not spotless, but the facility does have round-the-clock care from skilled nurses and licensed practical nurses who take care of medication, wound care, and vital signs, while a certified nursing assistant helps residents with daily routines, and an activity assistant runs group events and things to fill the days, plus big annual gatherings like a community carnival make life more social, though the nurse turnover rate is higher than the state average and daily nurse staffing hours are a bit below the average too, at 3.44 per resident compared to 3.7 statewide, but the rooms and common spaces are newer and bright, with lots of windows, greenery, and scenic views, and there are partnerships with big local hospitals that help ensure care continues without interruption when needed, while the culinary department serves meals described as both nourishing and good-tasting, always paying attention to health, and there's a dedicated wound nurse for things like wound vacs or IV antibiotics, plus outpatient therapy, dialysis coverage, wellness programs, and a discharge planner for smooth transitions, the ownership's family-based, split between Edward Braunstein, Michael Braunstein, Benjamin Einhorn, and Louis Gellis, which helps keep a home-like environment, and recent renovations mean spaces feel more modern and comfortable, with a general focus on supporting independence and making the place feel welcoming, though detailed info on management practices isn't available.
