    Beautiful rooms, unsafe inconsistent care

I placed a loved one here and liked the beautiful, spotless rooms, ocean views, and a few outstanding nurses, cleaners and therapists. However, the food was often inedible and dietary needs ignored. Staff quality was wildly inconsistent-some aides were caring, many were rude or neglectful; call buttons and alarms were slow to answer, hygiene and meds/oxygen were sometimes mishandled. Security and accountability were poor (missing items, outsiders entering, unnotified transfers) and medical/rehab coordination was unreliable. Despite pockets of excellent care, I cannot recommend this facility due to serious safety and staffing failures.

About Menorah Home & Hospital For Aged & Infirm

Menorah Home & Hospital For Aged & Infirm, part of the MJHS not-for-profit health system, offers a mix of independent living, assisted living, nursing home, and memory care options with a focus on care for seniors and the infirm, and though one review gave it a score of 1.0 stars, they've got a lot of types of care and services like skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, palliative care, hospice-including pediatric hospice-and even a specialized Memory Care Residence and Hospice Care Wing at the Menorah Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, and there's a ventilator support and step-down unit at the Isabella Center too. Residents get help with bathing, dressing, moving around, daily living, and medication management, and they have a 12 to 16 hour nursing care service each day, plus a 24-hour call system for safety and support, and they can help people who can't walk on their own. The staff speaks English and includes people like Jessica Wares as primary contact and Mohammed Z , M.D. as director, and the place runs as a non-profit, accepting Medicare and Medicaid for payment, though they haven't published their prices. There's a resident council and a family council to help with concerns, and the community offers furnished rooms, emergency alert systems, move-in help, concierge service, meal preparation, help with special diets, and a bunch of amenities like an arts room, game room, library, movie theater, outdoor walking paths, a garden, fitness programs, and a wellness room. They do community and recreational therapy programs, run daily activities, events, and let residents take part in running some programs, and they cover all sorts of screenings and testing, including community health screenings, glucose testing, and COVID-19 molecular and antigen testing, as it's a healthcare facility with a waiver certificate. They work with customized care plans, a team of experts, have advance care planning, spiritual and bereavement support for hospice and palliative care, and their centers offer inpatient rehab and long-term care with special programs for dementia and memory care. Each resident is part of a larger Skilled Nursing Facility community in what's called a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), and the whole operation falls under CLIA number 33D0717962 and facility ID M281-0000 with site ID 0000, which all just means they're official, and though no place is perfect, this one offers a range of care and support for a variety of needs.
