    About Fort Hudson Nursing Center

Fort Hudson Nursing Center is a nonprofit community set inside a Continuing Care Retirement Community, so people find different care levels in one place, and the facility has 196 certified beds, usually seeing about 182 residents per day. Folks who need serious or skilled nursing care after a stay in the hospital, an illness, or surgery come here, and the center accepts both Medicare and Medicaid. Residents get nursing and physician services around the clock, often by Family Nurses or doctors, and there's help every day with tasks like bathing, dressing, getting around, and medication management, though there have been some deficiencies reported, like not always having enough nursing staff or a nurse in charge every shift, not letting residents self-administer medicine when suitable, issues with care plans, and medication management, as well as not meeting some requirements for resident rights and pharmacy services-recent reports point to 14 deficiencies found during an inspection in December 2024.

Daily life for residents includes regular schedules of activities, movie nights, music, outside programs, and activities run by residents to build a sense of community. Meals come from a professional chef, served in a restaurant-style room with all-day dining, allergy-friendly and diabetes options, and special diets supported. Rooms come with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, phones, cable TV, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi, and people spend time together in outdoor areas, a movie theater, a game room, library, fitness and community rooms, and gardens. Emergency alert systems are in place, and people with mobility challenges get support for moving about and personal care. There are resident and family councils to help bring up concerns or complaints, aiming to improve care for everyone involved.

The wider Fort Hudson Health System covers other care options too, like Oaks Senior Living, homecare, rehabilitation, day services, and care management, and also supports patients of any age, including young people with complex needs through something called the Children's Health Home. People can get a free care consultation to better understand their choices here. While the center states a focus on dignity and independence for seniors and has over fifty years of experience, the presence of several recent care deficiencies is worth noting for families looking into this place.
