    About Luther Memorial Home

Luther Memorial Home sits in Grand Forks County, North Dakota, and offers a continuing care retirement community where older adults can find a place to live as their needs change, so folks can start out with independent living and, as time goes on, move to assisted living, memory care, or full nursing care. The place has 60 nursing facility beds and 41 assisted living units, and folks can choose between semi-private rooms and one-bedroom spaces, which means some people share and some have rooms to themselves. There's something called the Sun Center, that's for assisted living, and they keep a waiting list for those apartments, and there's an Alzheimer's Unit that's set up special for folks living with Alzheimer's disease or other memory problems, with doors that stay locked, 24-hour support, and activities meant to help memory. If someone has had surgery or a hospital stay, or just needs more help, they can move into the skilled nursing part, where there's nursing care around the clock, diabetes care, help with medicines, wound support, physical and speech therapy, and more if needed, and the staff is described as compassionate and ready to listen, which can matter for families.

The place is owned and run by Lutheran church congregations, but all kinds of people live there, and there's strong spiritual support with group and one-on-one visits, volunteers who come for Bible study, weekly Mass, church services, and so on. You'll see amenities folks are used to-like air conditioning, cable TV, Wi-Fi, a beauty salon, computer center, a fitness room, game rooms, a library, and plenty of comfortable spots inside and out, including an outdoor garden with walking paths, a movie theater, and places to gather and chat. People can join planned trips, crafts, games, resource events, and music programs, with both group and personalized activities day to day, and there are virtual visits using iPads when families can't come in person.

The dining room serves meals like a restaurant, and people with special diets, allergies, or diabetes can get food made for their needs, and there's all-day dining. Help's available for getting dressed, bathing, taking medicines, and moving from place to place, and the building's set up for folks that use walkers, wheelchairs, or need to stay in bed. There's a 24-hour call system for emergencies, supervision at all times, and mental wellness programs to support residents, plus on-site eye care by Eyes on Mayville, a local dentist, pharmacy help, and hospital and clinics are just blocks away. Luther Memorial Home also accepts Medicare and Medicaid and offers extra services like housekeeping, laundry, move-in help, and family support, as well as adult day care and hospice care. They organize transportation for doctor's appointments and other non-medical needs, and keep up with resident-run activities and community events. All in all, it's a place with many care levels, a church background, a focus on health, and a range of services and activities set up for older adults needing anything from simple support to skilled nursing.
