    Excellent therapy, pervasive neglect elsewhere

I had mixed experiences - I appreciated the PT/OT, many nurses, and my roomy two-person setup, and some staff were very helpful. But chronic understaffing and poor management communication led to medication changes without notice, bathroom neglect that caused a UTI risk, terrible food and housekeeping, dirty rooms, restrictive visitation and staff who seemed disengaged. Overall disappointing despite pockets of excellent care.

    About Burlington House Nursing Home

Burlington House Nursing Home in Cincinnati is a skilled nursing facility that focuses on senior care, offering both long-term and short-term options, with 122 total beds, including some certified beds, and it's part of the larger CommuniCare network, which carries a family-owned tradition and provides expert post-acute healthcare. Residents here find private rooms with their own bathrooms, kitchenettes, telephones, and air conditioning, plus cable TV and high-speed internet, so everyone can stay comfortable and connected, and the building itself has controlled entry for safety, a helpful emergency response system, and a 24-hour call service, even though direct nursing care comes in 12-16 hour shifts. The community offers a wide variety of indoor spaces, such as a library, a movie theater, an arts room, a game room, and a dedicated activities room, so residents can keep busy with music programs, fitness classes, movie nights, art sessions, and group outings, and they even host special events and community parties. Outdoors, there are safe walking paths, garden areas, and common spaces for fresh air or scheduled activity programs, which can help with mental and physical wellness.

Meals take place in a restaurant-style dining room, with dishes prepared by a trained chef, who keeps in mind special diets for allergies or diabetes, and there's always someone making sure meals fit each person's health needs. Housekeeping, laundry service, and move-in coordination are all part of daily life, aiming to make things easier and less stressful for residents and their loved ones. Burlington House has a special focus on memory care and dementia support, providing specialized nursing and activities for people living with Alzheimer's disease and other memory disorders, and it's currently the only skilled nursing home in Cincinnati dedicated solely to dementia and memory care, with several services designed to help residents with memory problems, including music, special recreation, and tailored Alzheimer's and dementia care programs. Registered nurses supervise medication administration, incontinence care, and help with bathing, dressing, and transfers for people who need non-ambulatory care, offering supervision all day and night.

There's a complete range of rehabilitation therapies, with occupational, speech, and physical therapy, plus care for Parkinson's disease, strokes, and other neurological issues, as well as wound care, hospice, palliative services, and even psychiatry. The community supports both short-term respite care and longer stays, working on individualized care plans that involve both residents and families to make sure personal needs are met, and there is a tradition of keeping ongoing relationships to be certain care stays on track. Burlington House Nursing Home is Medicare and Medicaid certified. It gets decent reviews, with a 3.9 rating from 48 people, and aims to keep a home-like feeling while still being able to support serious medical needs following a hospitalization, illness, or surgery, taking pride in its caring staff, person-centered care, memory support, and the comfort of social spaces made for both quiet time and active days.
