The Hattie Ide Chaffee Home is an award-winning, nonprofit skilled healthcare facility located in East Providence, Rhode Island. Known for its exceptional staff-to-resident ratio, this facility is dedicated to providing personalized and comprehensive care to its residents. The team at Hattie Ide Chaffee Home takes pride in fostering strong bonds between staff and residents, which helps to develop a true family-like environment. The resulting closeness supports successful healthcare outcomes, with many residents choosing to return for care after surgeries or recommending the facility to friends, neighbors, and family members. The continuity of care offered often means that residents can build lasting relationships with the same professional caregivers, enhancing peace of mind and comfort for all involved.

Since its founding in 1947, Hattie Ide Chaffee Home has remained committed to its original mission of delivering skilled healthcare within a nurturing, home-like environment. The facility welcomed its first residents on December 6, 1948, at its original location on South Broadway. The growth and success of Hattie Ide Chaffee Home were made possible by the generosity of East Providence businessman Walter Chaffee, who donated the land and residence in honor of his mother, Hattie Ide Chaffee. Through further public support and contributions, the home was able to move to its present location in January 1960, aided by a building fund of $700,000 raised from memorial gifts and public subscriptions.

Over the years, the mission of Hattie Ide Chaffee Home has grown to include a broad spectrum of patients in need of skilled care. The staff is highly trained and equipped to respond to complex medical needs, continually striving to maintain and exceed standards of quality in healthcare. An emphasis on a nurturing, home-like atmosphere runs throughout the facility, and the organization is guided by a volunteer board of directors, as well as ongoing involvement from medical professionals and the support of generous bequests.

The leadership team at Hattie Ide Chaffee Home includes the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Director of Nursing, Director of Social Services, Director of Culinary Services, Director of Human Resources, Director of Facilities, Director of Life Enrichment, and Director of Rehabilitation Services. This diverse and dedicated group ensures the smooth operation and continual advancement of the home’s mission. Staff members such as Barry Zeltzer, Lisa Bell, Marlene Verrier, Tia Forbes, Robert Campanella, Christine Cinquegrana, Scott Holleran, Heather Fraga, and Kate Pyne are committed to upholding the values and standards that make the home a trusted resource for residents and families.
