    Beautiful building, but care lacking

I appreciated the beautiful, clean building and chef-prepared meals (they'll accept homemade food), but my father hated the food. Rehab/physical therapy existed but felt understaffed and ineffective; therapists and assistants were rarely around. Nursing and medical care were inconsistent-some nurses were excellent, doctors communicated sporadically, pain meds were often late, incisions weren't checked, and I would not recommend Nurse Raquel. Front desk was excellent, but outdated equipment, rickety beds, hygiene incidents and poor management left the stay feeling hospice-like; I cannot recommend this facility.

    About Bridgemoor Of San Antonio

Bridgemoor of San Antonio sits as a for-profit nursing home providing both assisted living and memory care services, and, well, the place takes on a whole range of support for folks who need daily help, like bathing, dressing, and moving from place to place, while giving medicine management and running a mental wellness program, and the staff handle long-term care and skilled nursing support around the clock, with 24-hour supervision and extra nurse coverage during twelve to sixteen-hour shifts, and, you know, the furnishings are all set up for comfort, with fully furnished rooms that offer kitchenettes, private bathrooms, air-conditioning, cable TV, Wifi, and phones, so there's a slice of independence in a safe setting. Meals get served up restaurant-style with special attention to any dietary needs, and for those needing short-term help, respite care is an option, and there's a rehabilitation center called Bridgemoor Transitional Care - San Antonio, which focuses on everything from stroke recovery to orthopedic and cardiac rehab, using state-of-the-art technology, and even helps with community re-integration and in-home safety, and you'll find specialized programs and therapy, including occupational, respiratory, speech, physical, wound care, and nutritional counseling. The building features beauty salons, a computer center, dining room, a special Signature Luxe Café serving Starbucks coffee, fitness and game rooms, library, gardens, and outdoor spaces, all to help enrich daily life, plus there's transportation for medical and non-medical needs, with both staff-led outings and day trips, and a strong programming of daily activities, including events run by residents themselves. The facility doesn't allow pets, and operates as an affiliated nursing home accepting Medicare, though it doesn't take Medicaid, and offers both long-term and short-term inpatient rehabilitation, plus a range of therapy hours are tracked for each patient. There's also a resident and family council, which means people can have a say in how things are run and connect with others going through similar stages, and there are concierge and on-site spa services, private chefs, and boutique amenities for those who want a higher touch. Bridgemoor of San Antonio generally gets a B rating, with an A- in long-term care as of 2023, and has picked up some awards like Top Nursing Home in Texas and Best Nursing Home in San Antonio in recent years, though online ratings average out at about 2.7 out of 5 from 32 reviewers, and services are supported by special programs with unique names and tailored guidance for care planning, insurance, and family support. The doors stay open 24 hours a day, there's extra security online, and you'll find the place is focused on keeping folks safe and comfortable, blending professional help and everyday comforts in a setting that tries to feel inviting, even as it always stays focused on the job of caregiving.
