    Great rehab, inconsistent daily care

I liked the facility's clean, hotel-like feel - private rooms, in-room fridge/microwave, pleasant common areas, and a strong therapy program that helped my loved one regain mobility. Many staff are caring, upbeat, and attentive, and I saw real improvements under new management and an engaged director. That said, staffing and organization are inconsistent: long call-light delays, missed meds/showers, poor communication, and occasional unprofessional or poorly trained aides led to serious lapses in care. I'd recommend touring and using caution - great rehab and surroundings, but monitor staffing and day-to-day care closely before committing.

    About Coronado at Stone Oak

Coronado at Stone Oak sits over on Stone Oak Parkway, and offers several living and care services for seniors, including skilled nursing, memory care, assisted living, independent living, rehabilitation, and adult care home options depending on what a person needs at different times, and there's also hospice, home health, support and referral services, and home care support available if someone's care has moved to a different stage, so basically they try to cover all the bases under one roof which does make things easier for residents and their families, since many care needs can change. The place has a friendly, relaxed feel with a family-like atmosphere, and you'll find things like a front sitting room, an open dining hall, and a living room with a fireplace and a player piano, so it doesn't feel as institutional as some places, and there's a chapel, a library with computers and internet, neighborhood cafes for snacks and drinks, and each studio-whether private or shared-offers daily comfort with electric beds, flat-screen televisions, satellite TV service, and Wi-Fi, which, for folks who like staying connected or watching something in their rooms, can mean a lot. The leadership team, including General Manager Price Miller, keeps focused on a positive environment and stays involved in residents' lives. Nursing staff, therapy teams, and care managers work together and cover care twenty-four hours a day, and they follow individualized care plans for every resident. There's a structured activity, education, and social program too, which gives people chances to join in and meet new friends, and a lot of attention is paid to help residents stay active and involved. Medical services go deep here, including wound care, post-surgical care, restorative nursing, tracheotomy care, advanced medication management, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, plus diagnostic services like lab and X-ray, and telemedicine is available for off-site physician input. Residents can get personal care support like help with dressing or bathing, plus hygiene and nutrition assistance with selective menu options, even therapeutic diets if needed, and there's help for discharge planning or transitioning to other types of care when it comes up. The facility is set near San Antonio medical centers and local attractions, so families won't have too far to go, but right now, Coronado at Stone Oak isn't taking new patients, and no office hours are listed, so folks will have to wait for availability. The staff speaks English and the atmosphere aims for comfort, daily enjoyment, and a sense of belonging, with clinical support always around, plus extras like player pianos, chapels, and cafes making this San Antonio community a well-rounded option for seniors who want medical oversight but like a homelike setting.
