    Nice building, unsafe care, theft

I had mixed experiences: the facility is newer and generally well kept, and the therapy staff and doctors were attentive and professional. However nurses and CNAs were frequently rude or absent (call lights unanswered), rooms were crowded, I witnessed falls and injuries not checked, belongings went missing (suitcase, charger), and I saw hygiene problems (cockroaches, dirty ice machine, sludge in softener tank). With chronic understaffing, high turnover and what felt like poor management, I cannot recommend this place.

About Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital Of San Antonio

Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital of San Antonio sits at 5101 Medical Drive, right in the South Texas Medical Center, and people going there will find it's not just a hospital but a piece of a bigger network that cares for lots of different needs, working with other places like Reeves Rehabilitation Center at University Hospital, the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital, and Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital, while also being part of UT Health San Antonio, so you'll see all kinds of training and programs happening throughout the year. The hospital has 145 beds and helps folks with both short stays and longer recoveries, including over three thousand inpatient discharges and lots of patient days every year, and the staff there handles everything from physical therapy and speech therapy to wound care, hyperbaric oxygen treatments, neuropsychology, orthopedic and hand therapy, along with spasticity management, skilled nursing, aquatic therapy, and more for the people staying there or coming in for outpatient care or home health visits. They've got unique things happening, like a two-month Pediatric Rehabilitation rotation and advanced electrodiagnostic medicine testing with more training than the boards even require, and folks who need help after brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, amputations, orthopedic surgeries, or even respiratory failure will find special programs for those problems, including something called the Springs - Brain Injury Program and exoskeleton-assisted therapy with EksoNR for advanced rehabilitation. This hospital works closely with other providers, including the Texas Independence Health Plan, and even has programs for those who've served in the military or workers needing help after injuries on the job, so it's not just for seniors, though seniors do make up part of the community they care for. People will see interdisciplinary clinics like Spinal Cord, Musculoskeletal, Pain, Amputee/Orthotic/Neurolysis, and even urodynamics, which means patients aren't just getting one type of care but have a whole team thinking about all their needs, whatever their condition. A big focus is on teaching and giving care with students and residents as part of the care teams, and everything's set up for safety and support with The Joint Commission's full standards met, while the hospital itself runs as a partnership with some nonprofit history under the larger Warm Springs Rehabilitation System, which stretches back to 1937. The hospital helps folks and families with spiritual care, chapel services, dining, gift shop, library, and help with advance directives or insurance, and they keep things simple with visiting hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. There's a patient portal for staying in touch, along with telemedicine visits, hospital-at-home programs, and lots of community health programs, plus outpatient surgery and dialysis on-site. You'll also see that care covers everything from primary care, pregnancy, pediatrics, heart and diabetes care, organ transplants, and women's or seniors' services, plus support through a medical records office, emergency room, and resource programs for language help, safety, and support for visitors and families. It all happens in a big, purpose-built place focused on getting people stronger, healthier, and home when they're ready after all kinds of medical challenges.
