    Excellent therapy but unsafe nursing

I stayed at the facility for rehab and had mixed experiences. The building is beautiful and the therapy team was excellent - staff in therapy were caring and effective, and administrators were very helpful. However, nursing is severely understaffed and undertrained: call lights were often unanswered, help was slow or absent, showering/toileting and hygiene were inconsistent, and I witnessed unsafe, inattentive care at times. Meals and room cleanliness were generally fine, but scheduling, transportation, discharge coordination and security had frequent problems. I'd recommend this place for short, intensive rehab because of therapy, but I would not trust it for long-term care given the staffing and safety issues.

    About Windemere At Westover Hills

Windemere At Westover Hills sits in the Alamo Ranch area, close to restaurants, shopping, and SeaWorld, and the building's got a ranch-style look with flower beds and wide halls, which gives it a homey feel, and folks say it has an artsy charm to it, too. It's part of the Cantex Continuing Care Network, which has more than 40 years of experience, so there's a good amount of support if someone's needs change. The community has 112 beds and offers private rooms with their own bathrooms or semi-private options, which is good if someone's looking for choices. There's resident parking, complimentary transportation, and extra rides for a fee, and if someone needs to go out, it's set up to help with that. People living there can expect help with housekeeping, laundry, and dry cleaning, done on a regular basis, and there's Wi-Fi throughout, plus a well-stocked library, courtyards, cafés, and roomy dining spaces. Residents enjoy chef-prepared meals in a dining room that looks like a restaurant, and there's a beauty salon, barber shop, and even a gift shop for day-to-day needs, and meeting rooms and a chapel for gatherings or quiet time.

Windemere offers a wide range of care-assisted living, independent living, memory care, and skilled nursing, so whether someone needs just a little help or needs more support, there's some flexibility. Clinical care runs day and night, with nurses on hand, respiratory therapy for those who need breathing support, on-site pharmacy services, diagnostic services like X-rays and labs, and wound care overseen by doctors. They've also got a therapy team that does physical, occupational, and speech therapy, either as outpatient or for those staying there, and they do IV/infusion treatments, massage therapy, and special recovery programs like for stroke, post-surgery, cardiac, or pulmonary issues. There's also a memory care program for people with Alzheimer's or other dementia, which aims to keep things calm and safe, help reduce confusion, and prevent wandering.

Rehabilitation is a big part of Windemere, with patient-centered care, personalized plans focused on recovery, and programs led by a team of clinicians, who try to make the transition home easier. Folks get medication monitoring, help with personal care, and the nursing staff keeps an eye on medical needs, changing care as necessary. Activities and social programs run seven days a week, like arts and crafts, food events, music, games, and cognitive-building exercises, so there's something to do and a chance to meet people. The atmosphere is friendly, and reviews have mentioned that the staff seem helpful, kind, and caring, and the facility's earned awards like Best of Senior Living and Best of Senior Living All Star. In all, Windemere At Westover Hills provides a range of services and a comfortable setting for seniors who might need different levels of care, and staff try hard to help each resident live with comfort, dignity, and a sense of community.
