    Clean, caring community with activities

I chose this community and I'm very happy with my decision. The facility is clean, well-maintained and conveniently located; my spacious suite (many have private baths) is comfortable. Care is excellent and staff are attentive and cheerful, there are tons of activities (memory-care programs, group exercise, bingo, live entertainment) and the food is homemade and delicious. It's private-pay and on the pricier side but I feel it's good value. Note there are industry-wide staffing shortages, occasional maintenance delays and some extra costs/limits to the "all-inclusive" claim, but overall I would highly recommend it.

    About The Lakes Senior Living

The Lakes Senior Living in Banning, California, has a two-story building where residents can choose from studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments with features like kitchenettes, closet space, private showers, WiFi, cable, and phone hookups, and the homes can be furnished and decorated in whatever way feels most comfortable. The community provides assisted living, memory care, and respite care, and has a team of skilled nurses and caregivers who help with medication, daily tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding, and also support chronic illness, catheter care, and even specialized needs like oxygen or nebulizer treatments, with support available 24 hours a day. Residents get help with transfers, mobility, wheelchairs, and continence care, and can expect a personalized plan that changes when their needs do, no matter what care type they receive.

Meals at The Lakes get served restaurant-style, with two dining rooms, a chef and dietary staff who help with nutrition needs and offer vegetarian options or direct feeding help, and residents can also get meals delivered or choose room service, and guests can eat too. The daily routine includes housekeeping, laundry, all utilities, and basic cable paid as part of the monthly rent, and residents only pay extra for phone service, which helps keep things simple. There is covered and open parking, and those who don't drive can use scheduled bus transportation, which runs from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays, to shopping and medical appointments, so people remain active and independent as possible.

The building is secure with gated access, controlled entry, security cameras, medical alert systems, and regular safety checks for everyone's peace of mind. Amenities on the property include a large library with rotating books, a computer room, internet in common areas, a swimming pool and hot tub, a putting green and pool tables, a fitness room, and pleasant mountain views from outdoor spaces with water features, lawns, and gardens. Happy hours take place on Tuesdays and Fridays, where residents enjoy live entertainment, and the Life Enrichment Program brings recreation, fitness, learning, concerts, art, trips, and movie nights almost every day, so there's always something interesting to do, and people stay busy with crafts, gardening, music groups, bingo, poker, and even golf and lawn games.

Residents can bring pets-they allow small dogs, cats, birds, and fish-as long as residents can care for them, and families will find a friendly community atmosphere where staff get regular training, are licensed, and know how to handle memory care, chronic illness, disabilities, and behavioral needs with respect. The staff takes care of all maintenance, be it home repairs, cleaning, or yard work, and makes sure everyone has help with appointments, reminders, medication, oral hygiene, and mobility, so people can spend their time enjoying life without the stress of chores. There are social, cultural, educational, spiritual, live music, and seasonal events throughout the year, which means residents don't lack for anything to keep the days full and lively, and no matter what, help is always close by.
