    Warm caregivers but problematic administration

I chose Las Casitas and am grateful for the warm, genuinely caring staff, small home-like setting, great food and courtyard - my relative ate better, seemed happier, and got very personalized attention. However, management was often unresponsive (missed callbacks, poor follow-up, and deposit/room mishandling) and I observed occasional understaffing, cleanliness issues and limited activities. Overall the caregivers are excellent, but I'd be cautious about the administration before committing.

    About Las Casitas Assisted Living

Las Casitas Assisted Living in Burbank, California, sits at 1645 N Hollywood Way and has a Spanish-villa style with small casitas for residents around a patio and courtyard, offering space for about 15 to 17 seniors, so the community stays small and residents get a lot of attention, kind of like a big family where everyone knows each other. The owner is a registered nurse with over 25 years of experience, and the staff watch over residents all day and night, helping with things like bathing, dressing, toileting, medication, daily health checks, and transfers if someone needs help getting up or moving. There are several room options-private or shared bedrooms, all with air-conditioning, kitchens or kitchenettes, bathrooms, cable TV, telephones, internet, and housecleaning included, so nobody's got to worry about chores or repairs.

Residents get three home-cooked meals a day plus snacks, and the kitchen uses organic food and local ingredients when possible, which comforts some folks who care about their diet, and they'll make diet changes for diabetes or other medical needs if asked. Laundry and personal care like grooming, hygiene, clothing, and mobility are all covered, so seniors don't have to fuss over those. Nurses, occupational therapy, wound care, and medication administration are available, and the staff can help with clinical tasks, even insulin or more than one person helping with a transfer. Transportation is arranged for doctor visits, shopping, or spiritual services, with staff making sure residents get where they need to go and get back.

The property has nicely kept grounds, with outside dining on the patio, a big family room with a flat-screen TV, a dining area with a coffee bar, indoor game and activity rooms, and reading spaces. There's an onsite beauty salon and barber, fitness center, and recreation rooms, and folks can sign up for arts and crafts, exercise, reading groups, animal therapy, music, movie nights, tabletop games, and community events, with schedules that keep things lively but not overwhelming. Residents' safety comes first, with sprinkler systems and handicap features in place, and help is always close by thanks to a 24-hour call system and the smaller number of people living there.

Las Casitas offers several levels of care, including assisted living, memory care for those with dementia, hospice care for those who need it, and short-term respite stays, so families can pick what fits best. Long-term care insurance is accepted. The community allows pets, has guest parking for visitors, and tries to make the environment feel more like a cozy home than a big institution, which suits seniors who want a quiet, friendly setting with steady help from trained, friendly staff. When people visit for a tour, they can see how all the rooms are laid out, meet other residents, and talk to the professional caregivers who've earned good ratings for being tidy and attentive.
