    Caring staff, clean facility, recommended

My aunt has lived here for several years and I'm very grateful. The staff-especially Cindy and her team-are knowledgeable, kind, and consistently go above and beyond with personalized, respectful care, seamless hospice coordination, great meals, lively activities, and clear communication. The community is clean, organized, family-owned with low staff turnover, spacious rooms, plenty of parking, and a stress-free transition. Only real negatives were an occasionally slow call-button response and higher rates (though negotiable); overall I highly recommend it.

    About Mills Estate Villa

Mills Estate Villa sits in Burlingame, California, on the San Francisco Peninsula, and houses up to 47 residents in a setting shaped by the CiminoCare organization, where people find independent living, assisted living, memory care, and hospice services all in one community, and Delia Montano manages the daily operations, supported by staff members who've been part of the community for many years, some more than 18, which always says a lot in places like these. Residents live in private or shared rooms, with all utilities paid except for the phone, and the weekly housekeeping and building maintenance keep things running smoothly, so people can spend their time enjoying the large dining room where three meals a day are served, or sitting out in the airy private courtyard among serene, well-tended gardens.

Caring for people with dementia or memory challenges is something Mills Estate Villa pays attention to, as they've got a secured memory care building aimed at keeping wandering residents safe, with trained staff watching over everyone 24 hours a day and making sure help comes fast in emergencies, and although residents can't get insulin injections here, those who need help remembering to monitor blood sugar or use the restroom get reminders as needed, and staff use mechanical lifts for non-ambulatory residents when necessary, which is important for families to know.

People stay busy and connected through daily activities like bingo, Tai-chi, expressive arts, body and mind fitness, and ice cream socials, plus visits from entertainers and therapy dogs that always create a little extra warmth in the house, and there's spiritual support, regular wellness checks, and even a beautician on site. Transportation is an option, with resident parking and busline access costing extra, and both the indoor and outdoor areas offer space for visits, relaxation, or quiet walks, letting people find spots they like best, whether that's under the trees or in the main activity rooms.

The place gives light to heavy care and tries to meet specific needs, tailoring care to folks with diabetes, mobility concerns, and other conditions that crop up later in life, with personal care like bathing, dressing, medication management and transfers always available-a strong support for people hoping to age in place as their needs slowly grow. Meals include vegetarian options if needed, and there's always help nearby for those needing a hand with daily routines, including hygiene and healthy eating, and outside therapists, podiatrists, dentists, and more stop by to tend to health matters.

Respite care gets offered for short-term stays, and support groups gather, especially for fragile residents who need a bit more attention or activities suited to what they can manage, and with wheelchair-accessible showers, wide hallways, and reasonable accommodations, the building stays open and inclusive for folks with hearing, vision, or mobility challenges. Families can visit, tour, and talk with staff to understand how the community works, while reviews give Mills Estate Villa high marks for compassion and professionalism, with a sense of dignity, independence, and respect at the heart of daily routines. The team works to connect each resident to the broader community if they want, tries to honor personal needs and preferences, and strives to provide a comfortable, welcoming, and safe spot for seniors needing different levels of daily help, which can be reassuring to those looking for straightforward and reliable care in a place that feels like home.
