    Compassionate clean upscale memory care

I toured AlmaVia and was impressed by the friendly, long-tenured staff - compassionate, attentive, and excellent with memory-care needs. The facility is ultra-clean, bright, easy to navigate, with nice, roomy apartments, lovely dining rooms, outdoor courtyards, and a busy activities calendar that keeps residents engaged. Food and service were very good (not exactly home-cooked), med-techs and pastoral support were conscientious, and staff treated residents with dignity. It's upscale and pricier than some options, but I felt my loved one was well cared for and would recommend it.

    About AlmaVia of Camarillo

AlmaVia of Camarillo is a continuing care retirement community built in 2001 with independent living, assisted living, and memory care, so residents get support as their needs change and, because AlmaVia belongs to Elder Care Alliance, it's part of a non-profit, faith-based group that focuses on caring for the whole person. The staff and care team-including dementia-trained caregivers, wellness nurses, and a spiritual care director-are onsite around the clock to help with daily needs like medication management, bathing, and dressing, and the Director of Community Data, Sharon S., keeps everything organized for residents and families looking for suitable housing. The community sits next to St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital and is near doctors' offices and Camarillo's newest library, so healthcare and other services are easy to access. There are different types of apartments, such as spacious studios and one-bedrooms, and apartments include features for comfort and accessibility plus a 24-hour call system. Residents can keep pets, and the building has a beauty salon, a library, inviting courtyards with outdoor patios, and modern safety systems.

AlmaVia provides customized service plans for each resident, and the memory care floor plans support people living with Alzheimer's or dementia, featuring safety-focused design and a variety of activities tailored to promote cognitive health. The community serves three nutritious, restaurant-style meals every day, prepared by a skilled culinary team, and a registered dietitian can help with special dietary needs. Housekeeping and laundry are included, and transportation gets people to medical appointments and errands if needed. The monthly activities calendar is full, with choices for fitness, learning, creative art, spiritual reflection, social programs, civic engagement, and time for companionship. Residents can use common areas for meeting friends or join family support groups, education programs, and spiritual care that welcomes all faiths and beliefs. Volunteer opportunities are also part of life here. The staff focuses on helping each person keep their dignity and independence through kind, personalized care, and AlmaVia of Camarillo keeps a score of 8.9 for being a verified, welcoming place for seniors, combining a sense of belonging and comfort in a bright, thoughtfully designed setting.
