    Loving affordable safe dementia care

I placed my mother at Golden Age Care Home and I'm so relieved - Elena, the compassionate owner, and caregivers like Ms. Esther Simpson provide outstanding, attentive care in a small (six-bed), exceptionally clean, home-like environment. Meals are fresh and personalized, communication is excellent, and the facility is safe, Alzheimer- and hospice-capable; my mom is peaceful and thriving. Families are welcomed and visits are comfortable - I highly recommend this loving, affordable place.

    About Golden Age Care Home

Golden Age Care Home in Carmichael, California, is a small, home-like place for seniors who want personal care in a warm, friendly setting, and the house usually fits ten or fewer people, so residents often know each other and staff by name, which makes it easier to feel at home, and the caregivers give attention to each person's needs, whether someone just needs a little support with things like laundry and housekeeping or has memory problems like Alzheimer's. The home offers a range of care, so some people live almost on their own and just join the group for meals or activities, while others get help with moving from the bed to a chair, reminders about bathing or grooming, and even help with things like insulin shots if needed, and the staff can help with behavioral concerns, which is important for people who tend to wander or show distress, especially since there's a secure area with an alarm system and special bracelets to let caregivers know if anyone is headed out the door.

Some people want help with meals and get one or two hot meals every day in group dining rooms, with the menu including vegetarian options, and the home's kitchenettes also let people do their own cooking if that's something they still enjoy, plus the place keeps up with safety, having sprinklers, cable TV, WiFi, and good maintenance, and the bedrooms have either walk-in showers or full tubs, many of them wheelchair accessible, so it's very doable for someone who needs help or special equipment. The staff includes nurses, personal care assistants, and other health professionals who visit, like podiatrists, therapists, and speech specialists, and families can work with the staff to make a care plan that fits changing needs, so as someone's health shifts, care can increase without moving to another place. The daily schedule usually includes games, music, arts and crafts, brain activities, fitness, and social events, and there are devotional services and a salon and barbershop, and outside, residents can enjoy common gardens or sit on the porch, and for outings, the home runs its own transportation, giving rides to appointments or outings when families can't take them.

The house focuses on being supportive but lets people keep their independence as long as they can, and housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance are included or can be arranged for a fee, according to what each resident needs, and if someone's health declines or there's a need for hospice or respite care, those services can be added too, and caregivers know how to handle difficult moments kindly, helping residents with reminders, supervision, and extra support for things like transfers, which means families can feel secure about specialized dementia care. Golden Age Care Home is licensed by the California Department of Social Services and aims to make each resident feel comfortable, recognized, and part of a close-knit group where everyone's encouraged to enjoy life and stay as active as they want for as long as possible.
