    Clean bright facility staffing concerns

I placed my mom here and overall it's a clean, bright, secure facility with private rooms, an enclosed garden, good food, and several very caring staff - Tina and a few caregivers deserve special mention. Staff are friendly and often go out of their way, but the place is understaffed at times (nights especially) which has led to delayed responses, occasional hygiene lapses, lost items and even pest reports. Activities, music therapy and family-style dining are real strengths, though engagement and meal consistency can be hit-or-miss. Management and communication have been uneven; COVID isolation made the move harder. I'm glad my mom is safe and well-groomed here, but recommend visiting and asking detailed questions about staffing and care consistency before deciding.

    About Citrus Heights Terrace

Citrus Heights Terrace sits at 7952 Old Auburn Rd in the Chase neighborhood of Citrus Heights, CA 95610, and belongs to the CiminoCare family of communities that focus on compassionate and respectful care for seniors. The community offers apartment living with both private and shared furnished rooms, weekly housekeeping, building maintenance, and groundskeeping so residents don't have to worry about everyday chores. Meals are provided daily, including vegetarian options, and there's an onsite beautician for comfort and self-care. The staff is friendly and professional, some have worked there for more than 18 years and they meet or go beyond the Department of Social Services guidelines.

The facility is designed for aging in place, with different care levels like independent living, assisted living, memory care, and hospice, so residents can stay as their needs change. There's special support for diabetes, with help for monitoring blood sugar and giving insulin, and incontinence care includes reminders and help for both bowel and bladder incontinence. Standby assistance and assisted transfers, even with mechanical lifts, are available for those needing extra help. Nurses are on staff, a doctor is on call, and visiting health professionals in nursing, podiatry, dentistry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy come regularly. The staff gives medication, reminders, and monitoring.

For memory care, the community has a secure, purpose-built section with its own building and a computerized system using bracelets to stop residents from wandering into unsafe places. Staff here are trained to care for people with Alzheimer's and forms of dementia, plus there are secure outdoor areas so people can enjoy some fresh air safely. The staff is ready to handle behavioral problems, aggressive actions, and wandering, with 24-hour staffing and alert systems. Citrus Heights Terrace can take care of people from light supervision to those needing full help with almost all their daily activities, including those who have more complex care needs like non-ambulatory support.

There are patios and outdoor sitting areas with decorative entry lighting where folks and visitors can socialize, and both indoor and outdoor common spaces for activities. Regular life enrichment programs help people stay involved and connected, and the community encourages engagement and social interaction. Transportation's available at a cost, supporting trips for medical appointments or outings, and the location means hospitals like Kaiser Permanente and UC Davis Medical Group are close by for emergencies or specialty care.

The facility operates with respect for fair housing and upholds legal protections for gender identity, orientation, and income source, with a welcoming culture that values warmth, dignity, and engagement. Utilities, except phone, are included. Pets aren't allowed, and exact details about parking and floor levels aren't listed. The focus always stays on keeping residents safe, comfortable, and as independent as possible for as long as they want to call the community home.
