    Warm, homelike care; improve communication

I found a warm, family-owned, homelike place with genuinely caring staff and attentive owners - exceptionally clean, lovely courtyard, great meals, lots of activities (music, art, gardening) and strong, personalized memory/assisted care. I also saw inconsistent RN/med-tech communication and occasional lapses in medical follow-through and family updates, and it may not be right for higher acute needs or those wanting many social peers. Overall I'm grateful for the compassionate care and would recommend it for personalized, small-home care - just ask about nursing stability and communication before you commit.

    About RanchView Senior Assisted Living

RanchView Senior Assisted Living sits in the quiet Olivenhain area, between Encinitas and Rancho Santa Fe, on a large and peaceful property, and a lot of folks might remember it as the old Olivenhain Guest Home, and the place opens its doors for seniors who need assisted living, memory care, respite care, hospice, or just a safe and caring place as they get older. RanchView obtained its state license-number 374604538-from the California Department of Social Services on September 23, 2022, and the facility has room for up to 42 residents, with both private and semi-private rooms that families can decorate to feel like home, so everyone has a chance to settle in and feel comfortable. An administrator runs the daily operations and the staff also includes licensed nurses, caregiving aides, and ancillary personnel who help with many needs, from medication to bathing and daily care, though the exact nurse hours aren't listed anywhere. The caregiving team offers round-the-clock support and isn't shy about using personal care plans for each resident, and those plans guide how staff handle things like diabetic care, non-ambulatory support, and incontinence issues, and it's worth noting that there's help available for clients who use SSI, the Assisted Living Waiver Program, or services from the San Diego Regional Center.

The building has two stories with 15,000 square feet of living space, plus a courtyard, a patio, garden paths, and plenty of secure, landscaped outdoor space for relaxing or walking, and the facility welcomes pets for those who want animal companionship. Wide hallways, safety rails, shower chairs, and fall prevention equipment make the place accessible for wheelchairs and walkers, and the property has gated access for security. Inside, there are shared and private rooms, a library, arts room, piano, Wi-Fi, and different common areas where residents can spend time, and a dedicated memory care section offers extra support for those living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, focusing on safety and routines that help with daily life, reduce confusion, and prevent wandering. RanchView provides daily housekeeping, weekly showers, three nutritious meals prepared by on-site culinary staff-with options for gluten-free and low-sodium diets-along with laundry and concierge services.

Residents can join fitness programs, live music events like piano concerts and outdoor concerts, movie nights, or resident-run activities, and the place arranges outings and provides rides for appointments or errands around town. The staff run both spiritual and social programs, and the community culture focuses on respect, dignity, and trust. RanchView has gone over 50 years working with seniors, and it hasn't had any substantiated complaints in recent state reviews; it's also allowed to serve hospice residents and provide extra special care at end of life. The environment is peaceful and home-like, with individualized attention to the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of each resident, and families can expect a steady, professional, and compassionate team looking out for their loved ones. RanchView accepts a wide range of residents, works with personalized care plans, and supports people to age in place with as much dignity and independence as their conditions allow.
