    Warm, caring staff; inconsistent management

I placed my parent here and overall I'm glad we did - the building and common areas are beautiful, the staff are warm and genuinely caring, the activities are plentiful and the food is often delicious (even my picky eater is satisfied). Medication management, transportation, and celebrations are handled well and staff frequently check in with families. That said, communication and management responsiveness can be inconsistent, there's turnover and occasional understaffing/poor supervision (especially evenings), some rooms are small or outdated, and costs felt high for the issues observed. I'd recommend visiting, asking about staffing and management practices, and weighing the strong care culture against the operational concerns.

    About Sage Glendale

Sage Glendale gives seniors different ways to live by offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care, so you'll see folks in studio, one-bedroom apartments, and companion suites, and some rooms have views of the Los Angeles skyline, and residents control the temperature, get spacious closets, walk-in showers with benches, in-room kitchenettes, and have cable TV and Wi-Fi so they can stay connected or watch shows when they want, and it's worth noting apartments have emergency alert systems for safety, and there's regular housekeeping and laundry, plus maintenance is handled. Pets are welcome, so some people have small dogs or cats, and the staff works around the clock with a Director of Nursing making sure care is always available if someone needs help with bathing, dressing, medication, or private healthcare visits, and residents can use insurance or check to pay, and those with VA benefits often qualify for help too. Sage Glendale has a free transportation service for trips outside and scheduled rides for personal errands, doctor visits, or group outings, and while inside, people use card rooms, a demonstration kitchen for classes or group cooking, a well-equipped fitness center for prescribed exercise and yoga, and a large game or craft room for arts, book clubs, or story time, and some residents join musical groups for a bit of fun.

The dining here is restaurant-style, all day, in a comfortable setting with balanced, nutritious menus that a chef prepares, and there are special options for folks with dietary needs, so people eat in the dining room, bistro, on the patio, or, if they prefer, in their own room. The community has movie nights in an in-house theater, group Tai Chi and chair yoga, plus physical and occupational therapy, with nurse oversight for medical care, and they offer both short-term respite stays and long-term living. Outside, landscaped grounds and patios have shady sitting spots, where folks stroll or visit with friends or pets, and there are areas for gardening as well. Spiritual and intellectual wellness get attention too, with weekly worship, meditation, aromatherapy, and volunteer projects, and there's always a focus on connecting with people, whether that means doing crafts, sharing a meal, or joining a celebration or club to make new friends. Memory care runs on their "In the Moment" program, which means daily life and activities are built around each person's strengths and preferences, so those living with dementia or Alzheimer's can follow their own rhythm, and the Memory Support area has extra safety and staff expertise for peace of mind.

Residents have access to an on-site salon for haircuts, styling, and nails, or can get podiatry and wound care, and the in-house pharmacy supports all medication needs, plus staff helps with telemedicine appointments so families stay in the loop about health. Sage Glendale's LifeCycles program covers all sorts of daily engagement, with exercise, social events, educational classes, music, outings to local events, and spiritual support, so people remain connected and active, and regular health assessments make sure care plans adjust as needs change. Guests are welcome, with visitors allowed at meals or even overnight, and staff takes care to respect privacy and preferences in a place that feels calm and welcoming, and, since management is from Agemark Senior Living, they run things with attention to details, safety, and treating residents like family.
