    Caring staff inconsistent facility oversight

I moved my loved one into Citrus Gardens and I saw many genuinely caring, compassionate staff, strong memory-care programming, a clean bright facility with beautiful grounds, good food and lots of activities - staff often went above and beyond and families were welcomed. That said, my experience was inconsistent: some cottages and rooms are renovated and comfortable while others felt dark or rundown, and there were worrying lapses (missing items, poor hygiene/medical monitoring, slow or inadequate management response and billing issues). Communication and some administrators were excellent and responsive, but oversight can be uneven. I'd recommend Citrus Gardens for its loving caregivers and atmosphere - but go in watching care quality and contracts closely.

About Stanford Cottages-Citrus Gardens Memory Care

Stanford Cottages-Citrus Gardens Memory Care sits in Hemet, California, and serves seniors who have Alzheimer's disease or other kinds of dementia, focusing on safety, comfort, and providing a welcoming space where people can relax and live as independently as possible. There's a gated entrance and a secure, locked design that helps prevent wandering, with round-the-clock caregivers and a 24-hour call system so someone's always close by if residents need help, whether it's for bathing, dressing, grooming, or managing medication, and the personal care assistants here have good experience-over 25 years combined-so residents can count on capable support day and night. Care plans get made for each person after an evaluation before moving in, and the staff adjust these plans to match a resident's changing needs, including care for diabetes, incontinence, or high levels of medical support.

The place has the feel of small cottages that open onto a private, central courtyard where people can get fresh air or enjoy the garden, and group areas are set up for smaller meals and activities to help with comfort and ease socializing. They allow both private and shared suites, and residents can use their own furniture and belongings if they like, which makes each space feel a bit more like home, plus pets can live here for an extra monthly fee. Suites start at $5,000 per month for friendship/shared rooms or $6,000 for a private one, and there are extra costs for things like higher levels of care, supplies, transportation, and respite care, plus a $500 deposit, a $2,500 community fee, and $50 per month for pet rent.

There's a full list of daily services: three meals are served every day, and people can choose special menus such as vegetarian, low sodium, or other diets, and guest meals are allowed. Religious services (Catholic, Jewish, Mormon/LDS, Protestant) take place regularly. Nurse wellness checks, medication administration, to meals, help with ambulation and restroom use, transportation to doctors or shopping, housekeeping, laundry, and linen service all come standard, with additional respite care for short stays costing $200 per day with a one-week minimum.

Amenities include central air conditioning, accessible ground-floor units, utilities, cable TV, indoor and outdoor seating areas, landscaped grounds, cable hookups, a fitness center, spa/wellness room, library, game room, business room, and a barber or beauty salon on-site for convenient haircuts and grooming. Residents have a choice of activities throughout the week like stretching classes, musical performances, devotional services, trivia games, movie nights, resident-run events, and fitness programs, and the community's ranked among the best for these kinds of enriching activities. People here often enjoy the peaceful courtyards, walking paths, gardening, or just sitting with others in the lounge, while compassionate staff trained in cognitive impairments help keep everything running smoothly.

Stanford Cottages-Citrus Gardens Memory Care can hold up to 55 residents and accepts both short-term respite stays and longer-term residents, focusing on respect, trust, and honest care. Medical support is strong, with 12-16 hours of nursing coverage a day, proximity to medical offices and pharmacies, and a secure environment for those who might get confused or wander. The staff encourage independence, choices, and friendships, aiming to create a stable, calm setting where each person can still find enjoyment and dignity every day, whether that means a stroll in the garden, joining a trivia night, or just reading quietly in the library, and with the license number 336426759, it keeps to regulations for care and safety while fostering community.
