    Chronically understaffed unsafe neglectful care

I had mixed but mostly negative experiences. A few nurses and aides were caring, friendly, and kept things clean, but the place felt chronically understaffed and undertrained - I witnessed unprofessional behavior, missed care (falls, bruises, soiling, bedsores, even hospitalizations), poor communication after critical events, and problems retrieving belongings. Because of the safety and neglect concerns, I cannot recommend bringing a loved one here.

    About Inglewood Health Care Center

Inglewood Health Care Center sits in the heart of Inglewood, California, and provides a wide range of care options, including assisted living, independent living, memory care, continuing care, skilled nursing home services, post-acute care, home care, and respite care, so families looking for different types of support can find many choices here, and the building itself has 99 certified beds with an average of about 93 residents each day. Folks have access to private rooms costing from $8,500 to $10,000 per month, or semi-private rooms at $7,500 to $9,000 per month, and rooms come with basic features like cable TV, kitchens or kitchenettes, washers and dryers, and safety features such as sprinklers. The center has amenities and services that support both independent residents and those who need daily help, with things like a dining room, salon, activity room, fitness center, guest parking, on-site maintenance, and WiFi throughout.

Residents can join social activities, arts and crafts, health and wellness programs, and education classes, and the staff help folks with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and eating, plus nurses provide skilled care every hour of the day. There's transportation available for appointments and outings, and the facility accepts long-term care insurance. Seniors who need specialized care can get wound care, pain management, enteral therapy, intravenous therapy, and in-house rehabilitation services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and the community offers psychological services, memory care, and restorative nursing as well, serving those with general rehabilitation needs, memory loss, and step-down needs after hospital stays. On top of that, the facility has special programs for geriatrics, psychiatry, pediatrics, and even ventilator care, and supports a range of nursing specialties including ICU, ER, and Telehealth nursing.

Mariner Health Care, which manages several nursing centers across California, operates the Inglewood location as a for-profit limited liability company, and Maria Anit, Monniece Boatwright, and Luzviminda Montecillo have managed it since November 2024. The nurse turnover rate sits at 41.4%, with a reported nurse staffing rate of 3.87 hours per resident per day, and the center maintains detailed records and follows health agency guidelines for visitor policies and infection control, including regular monitoring of COVID-19 symptoms among staff and residents. The health center has faced some issues, as shown by findings of 63 total deficiencies in inspections over several years, including infection control and administration problems, plus documented violations for not always having an infection prevention and control program in place, so families wanting to know more about quality and safety can review these inspection reports. Inglewood Health Care Center continues to provide rehabilitation, long-term skilled care, and various support services to older adults and those with complex medical needs, with aims to promote wellness, give specialized care, and meet the social, emotional, and physical needs of residents.
