    Caring staff, spotless home-like value

I've spent seven happy years here - my mom has a private room, the place is spotless and home-like, and the caring, competent staff (who really know residents and families) make it feel like family. Good amenities, thoughtful events (Mother's Day was lovely), and being close to home at about $2,000/month made this great value for us. Visits to other facilities that were small, not clean, and poorly staffed only confirmed our choice.

About The Patchwork Quilt Guest Home II

The Patchwork Quilt Guest Home II sits in Lake Forest, California, near the San Diego Highway and close to Cavanaugh Park, and it's a licensed 6-bed assisted living facility for seniors, offering both private and semi-private fully furnished rooms. The community is small and home-like, so residents feel comfortable and safe, and the staff gets to know each person and their family, which helps make daily life smoother and more personal. The facility supports seniors who want to keep their independence but need assistance with daily activities, like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene, and staff helps with medication management and transfers, including both 1-person and 2-person transfers, even with the use of mechanical lifts if needed. They can also give diabetic care, including checking blood sugar and giving insulin shots if required, and they help with incontinence care, such as reminders or hands-on help as needed.

Meals are home-cooked and served three times a day, with menu options that cover vegetarian diets, specialty diets, or other medical needs, and everyone eats in a communal dining area for social interaction. The facility offers housekeeping and linen services, cable TV, and Wi-Fi in the rooms, plus a wellness room, spa, barbershop or parlor, book room, and several indoor and outdoor common spaces for games and relaxation. Residents who drive can use the free parking, and the staff sets up transportation for medical visits or errands like grocery shopping, so getting out and about is still easy.

The Patchwork Quilt Guest Home II offers programs for different care needs, with assisted living, independent living, and memory care all within the same community, so residents can stay in place as their needs change, and short-term respite and hospice care is also available. The memory care section is secure and has a wander alert system to help those with Alzheimer's or dementia stay safe, and activities like music therapy, animal therapy, tabletop games, movie nights, crafts, exercise programs, and outdoor trips keep everyone engaged, with extra behavioral support available for those with challenging symptoms. Visitors like nurses and podiatrists can come in, and faith-based offerings and social events, such as Mother's Day celebrations, are part of life here.

The surrounding area has nearby grocery stores, coffee shops, gas stations, pharmacies, and restaurants, making errands simple. The facility provides advice and planning for new residents and their families, and those interested can visit, tour the community, and meet staff and residents to understand what daily life feels like. The focus stays on respectful, personalized care in a small, friendly, and supportive setting where seniors can age in place with peace of mind.
