    Caring staff, safe but dated

I placed my loved one here and, overall, I'm grateful - the staff (especially manager Mona) are caring, dedicated and responsive, and my relative became happier and stronger with their attention. The place is small, clean and feels safe, but it's an older, somewhat dark facility with limited space, no single rooms, and not ideal for wheelchair users. Activities and dining were mixed - the memory unit had good programming, but meals and rehab options can be lacking. Pricing leaned higher, yet the personalized care felt worth it for us; it may not be the right fit for everyone.

    About Bentley Manor by SCH

Bentley Manor by SCH sits on McLaughlin Avenue in Los Angeles, right across from Mar Vista Recreation Center and close to key amenities like hospitals, museums, and restaurants, so residents do get access to all the things they might need while still having a home-like, boutique setting for everyday life. The facility is a two-story senior community with space for up to 27 residents, offering a cozy, well-kept environment where people are supported with different levels of care including independent living, assisted living, memory care for Alzheimer's or dementia, nursing home care, and even adult day care and respite care options, so folks can get help as their needs change.

The staff-to-resident ratio sticks to one staff member for every four residents, which gives a strong sense that support feels personal, with friendly, well-trained people on hand at all times for daily help or continuous care, depending on what's needed. Bentley Manor provides a safe, comfortable, and familiar setting where dignity and well-being matter, making it easier for people to feel at ease. Studio-style residences are made with comfort in mind, and there are both indoor and outdoor common areas where residents can relax, join in planned activities, or simply socialize, and you'll see people gathering for seated aerobics, arts and crafts, or just enjoying the beautiful upstairs seating area that overlooks the fish tank which a lot of people like to watch. There are green spaces around and paths for outdoor strolls, and residents can also join cultural classes held across the street at the recreation center.

Meals are cooked fresh and served daily in a family-style restaurant called Bo's House of Omelettes and Waffles, with menu options including vegetarian and kosher dishes, and there are homecooked meals for those in day care too, so everyone gets something to suit their needs, plus there's devotional services onsite for anyone with spiritual needs. There's a full calendar of activities-social, entertaining, and educational-which helps folks build friendships and keep their days interesting, and people who want or need to can get memory care that's specialized for Alzheimer's or dementia, with care tailored to keep residents comfortable and safe.

Healthcare support is well coordinated, with nearby hospitals like UCLA Medical Center, Marina Del Rey Hospital, and Cedars-Sinai, plus access to local physicians and pharmacies. Bentley Manor handles non-emergency medical transportation for appointments, and the facility is set up to cover a lot of care needs, including help with daily living and nursing support. The building itself is purposefully designed to make moving around easy and to help people feel at home, and there's a medical clinic on site for routine health services, with care delivered by Specialized Community Healthcare staff using systems like Serenity OS to keep everything organized and responsive. Residents can always expect to find a welcoming atmosphere focused on comfort, personal dignity, and well-being, without pushing too hard on any one idea of what senior living is supposed to be.
