    Friendly community, unsafe care concerns

I had a mixed experience. The location is great with easy parking; residents are friendly, the community feels comfortable with lots of activities, recent renovations, on-site skilled nursing/therapy and a resident-run store, and some staff are kind with clean housekeeping. But the food is bland/cold, the decor can be musty/dated, meds and call lights are often slow, caregivers can be rude or inattentive, and there are reported/alleged problems - items missing/reappearing, alleged staff theft, administration denial and even a police report/alleged neglect - so I felt unsafe. I wouldn't trust this place for severe medical needs; proceed with caution.

About West Pico Terrace Assisted Living Center

West Pico Terrace Assisted Living Center sits about 2.2 miles outside Beverly Hills, California, right in the Museum Row area, and it's connected to Terrace Skilled Nursing Healthcare Center, which means seniors can stay in the same building if they ever need skilled nursing care after a hospital visit or, sometimes, even move back and forth as needs change, which a lot of folks find handy, and with 136 beds, there's plenty of room for residents who want studios, private suites, semi-private or shared rooms, all of which are fully furnished and have kitchenettes, private bathrooms, air-conditioning, and either a patio or balcony, and pets are fine as long as there's just one per resident, which is nice if you've got a furry friend you'd miss otherwise.

The staff provides 24-hour supervision, daily assistance with things like bathing and dressing, medication management, transportation to appointments, incontinence care, and laundry and housekeeping, so residents don't have to worry much about chores or cleaning, and for those needing more help, there's access to nurses, physician services, podiatry, dialysis, and wound care, with therapists around for rehabilitation, so there's a lot covered if your health situation changes. Meals are all home-cooked with organic ingredients and served in a private dining room, and the facility's got a big fitness center, a game room, a media room, laundry rooms, a hair salon, a family lounge, and a pretty outdoor courtyard, along with covered parking for those who still drive.

West Pico Terrace Assisted Living Center makes room for fun and friendship too, with music and dance programs, movies, outdoor activities, educational classes, art therapy, and exercise programs, plus a library for those who like to read, and when family visits, they can use the guest accommodations. Residents who want to stay active get access to a fitness center, while others may just enjoy the bright, comfortable communal spaces or the landscaped gardens outside.

This center lets residents enjoy their independence while offering plenty of help whenever needed, whether it's just a little support or a lot more care, and folks can personalize their rooms with paint and decorations to feel more at home. The building is locked and has monitored gardens to make sure everyone stays safe, and all units have individual climate control, phone, internet, and cable TV. The staff speaks both English and Spanish, which helps everyone feel included, and they focus on creating a kind, supportive place where seniors and their families talk together about care decisions.

West Pico Terrace Assisted Living Center accepts adults 55 and over, and there's short-term respite care for those who need a break, as well as home care and memory care services for people living with Alzheimer's or other memory problems, and with a 5.5 out of 10 average rating and ranking 99th in its city, it stands as a very large, practical choice for those wanting help with daily life in an honest, straightforward environment.
