Crenshaw Nursing Home sits in Los Angeles and has 55 certified beds, run as a for-profit facility under Longwood Management LLC since 2012, with ownership by the Friedman Living Trust. The place focuses on skilled nursing care, offering both long-term and short-term help, including round-the-clock nursing, rehabilitation, and respite stays for folks who need a break from home care or short recovery time. Residents get an average of 4.65 nurse hours daily, which is above what many other places provide, though the nurse turnover rate stays high at 66%. Staff take a team approach and work to keep everyone informed about their health, care, and treatments, so people know what's happening with them. Crenshaw also offers a range of activities and amenities like a garden, spa, wellness room, arts and crafts space, library, and fitness programs to keep residents active and engaged. There are some problems, though, like pharmacy services that don't always label drugs properly or keep controlled substances secure according to standards, and inspection reports show a total of 57 deficiencies, including three tied to infections. Inspectors have also found issues with letting residents see survey results and talk to advocates. The management says they're working to improve care and address these problems. Crenshaw accepts both Medicare and Medicaid, and supports residents with daily needs and medical care, with a focus on comfort, safety, and letting people keep as much independence as possible-like with the VELA Independence Chair to help folks move around safely. The facility runs daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Residents get help tailored to their needs, and staff try to make the place feel homey and welcoming, treating residents with care and respect.

Filthy, Unsafe, Neglectful Nursing Home
I would not leave a loved one here. The place felt tiny and jail-like, filthy with roaches/rats (I even saw a maggot wound), altered records, and rude, unprofessional staff - some seemed under the influence or engaged in theft. Care was neglectful and dangerous, with a dismissive DON/administrator; my relative didn't get the help they needed. A couple of nurses were kind and bought things for my uncle, but overall I do not recommend this facility and believe it should be shut down.
