    Attentive staff, dated building, uncomfortable

I'm very pleased with the staff - Connie J., Marta, David and Brian are attentive and professional - but the building feels old and the parking lot is uncomfortable.

About The Salvation Army LA Silvercrest Senior Housing Residence

The Salvation Army LA Silvercrest Senior Housing Residence at 947 S Hoover St in Los Angeles is a senior living community that gives older adults different places to live like studio apartments and rooms in a safe building with 24-hour supervision and help if needed, and what's good is there are all these names for their housing options like Cottonwood Manor, Grant Park Apartments, Sunshine Apartments, and Twin Rivers Housing, so folks can find a spot that fits them whether they want to live more independently or may need extra help. This place is part of a bigger system of senior facilities with community programs across cities like Los Angeles, Oakland, Antioch, and Fullerton, and you'll hear names like Allen Temple, Beth Am Manor, Beverly Hills Sr. Housing, Wolcott Estates, Heritage Village of Barling, Bayside Elderly Housing, and Alexander Residence, which brings together different faiths, backgrounds, and special groups under one roof-or several roofs, actually. The setup supports both independent living for active seniors and different levels of care, so residents can move to assisted living or memory care if their needs change, and there's an option for people needing skilled nursing or care after an illness, since they provide round-the-clock medical support, rehabilitation, and wound care.

The community's got group living programs like the Handi Envir Living Program and MJF Housing II, and also has specialized services for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, with secure areas and memory-enhancing activities, plus staff present at all hours to give care and support. Residents can use services such as help with bathing or dressing, medication reminders, housekeeping, laundry, and meal programs, and meals are planned by chefs who focus on providing balanced nutrition. The Alexander Center and the Rainbow of the Sun School are some of the unique places in the community, and gardens and common spaces let people get together, sit outside, or join organized group events and regular activities to keep busy and engaged. There are personalized care plans made for each resident, whether someone needs just a little help or closer supervision, and the community's got amenities made for seniors, like safe housing, laundry, cleaning, healthcare, transportation, and wellness programs. They offer a broad setup for care, with independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, home care, respite stays, and more, so people can stay on as their care needs change.

The staff keep a friendly, helpful, and welcoming environment, and the place has gotten awards for being one of the friendliest senior living communities. The Salvation Army makes sure the residence keeps affordable housing as a main part of its mission, and community involvement is encouraged, so nobody feels left out or isolated. Residents have a sense of belonging and can always find ways to stay active, connect with others, and feel at home, with a little extra help always nearby when it's needed. The community shares helpful videos and checklists for seniors thinking about their care options, and provides important support services like financial counseling, legal help, care management, home-delivered meals, and transportation. The whole setup is designed for people 55 or 62 and older. The Salvation Army LA Silvercrest Senior Housing Residence is a simple, supportive place for seniors who want independent living or may need more help as they get older, and everything's tailored to senior needs, so residents can have a good, comfortable life with care and activities each day.
