    Small comforting homey independent living

I live here and appreciate the small, comforting facility and caring staff who know residents by name. The furnished rooms are ample (many shared with connecting baths), wood accents feel homey, meals are provided, and the dining room, living room and library are pleasant - safe, economical independent living within walking distance of Downtown Marysville.

    About Columbian Retirement Center

Columbian Retirement Center in Marysville, California, sits across from St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the local Knights of Columbus Council, and has been part of the community since 1973. The Center mainly serves elderly members and widows of the California Knights of Columbus and other retirees, focusing on affordable, faith-based senior housing for those 55 or older. Residents find a range of living arrangements, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and home care, with spacious studio, one, or two-bedroom apartments featuring kitchenettes, private baths, full-size refrigerators, wall-to-wall carpeting, and regular housekeeping. There's a secure Expressions Memory Care neighborhood for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, with 24-hour oversight from a licensed vocational nurse who's been working in the field for over twenty years, private or companion apartments, barrier-free showers, and safety features aimed at reducing confusion and wandering.

Rooms come furnished, and rates start at $1,250 a month, including three daily meals, cleaning, and weekly linen changes. Residents eat together in a bright, airy dining room where a chef prepares nutritious meals. The community provides an outdoor garden, a library, a large lounge with a fireplace and TV, and a private chapel. There's an onsite salon and barber shop, laundry facilities, and daily activities like exercise programs, social gatherings, religious services, and Catholic mass. The Center offers activities to keep the mind and body busy, and there always seem to be things going on to keep folks engaged and connected.

The Center's Columbian Senior Advisory Service helps residents and families find information about care and housing, answers questions about elderly self-care and caregiver support, and offers counseling. Residents get transportation assistance, laundry service, and access to a helpful and cheerful staff that many people describe as kind.

Residents can have pets, enjoy garden walks, and find support if they need memory care or help with daily tasks. Visitors are welcome to come stay overnight, meet staff and residents, and try out meals, with transportation provided for free. The Center is within walking distance of downtown, close to health care, churches, and shopping, making it easy to step out if you want something.

The Columbian Retirement Center focuses on giving elderly Knights of Columbus, their families, and other seniors a safe, comfortable, and dignified place to live. There's a clear effort to lower isolation and encourage everyone to age gracefully and maintain as much independence as possible. Reviews mention a welcoming atmosphere with staff who bring joy to their daily work and help everyone feel at home. Rooms do not include private phone or cable for TV. Priority is given to eligible members and their families for affordable housing, but vacancies may open to others when needed. For those who want more details or program information, the Center keeps a website up to date with facts about its services and mission.
