Valley Palms Care Center, which is affiliated with Cambridge Healthcare Services, has had Ira Smedra in charge of management since September 1999, and Jacob Wintner since September 2016, and you'll find it has 99 beds that are all certified for licensed nursing home care, so there's space for people who need skilled nursing and rehab services, and while the place offers things like round-the-clock nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, along with wound care that's tailored to each person, infection checks, and transportation to appointments or activities, it isn't perfect, because there've been problems reported before, like issues caring for people who can't control their bladders well, not doing enough to prevent urinary tract infections, and also some cases where residents' rights and dignity weren't fully respected, and there have been some infection-related issues too, which is something to keep in mind, but there's a pretty active administrator who pays attention to residents' concerns, and the staff, who are considered professionally trained, spend an average of 4.09 nurse hours per resident each day, although people change jobs fairly often there, with about a 32.4% turnover rate, and there's a patio outdoors where residents can sit, even though that isn't the biggest feature, and most care is planned to fit what each person really needs today, whether it's therapy to help walk better, help with talking or swallowing, or specialized staff helping with different injuries or conditions, so while Valley Palms Care Center does have a good reputation for being comfortable and providing strong care, it's wise to know about both the high points and the places where state inspectors found things to fix.

Compassionate care but inconsistent service
I placed my loved one here and had a mixed but memorable experience. The nurses, CNAs and rehab team were often compassionate, attentive and highly skilled - PT (great therapists) helped my mom walk again, wounds healed, rooms were clean and the facility felt home-like and peaceful. However, I also encountered serious problems: late or missed meds, ignored call buttons, unprofessional or distracted staff at times, poor food and communication/administrative failures - so you must watch closely. Overall I'm grateful for many caring staff and the rehab results, but experiences vary widely and vigilance is needed.
