    Caring, clean, budget-friendly home recommended

I placed my 96-year-old here and I'm very pleased. The staff are kind, attentive and responsive - medication management is included, conscientious and on time. It's a small, clean, homey one-story place with lots of activities and quick problem resolution; food is generally good though variety can be limited. Rooms are studio-style and the building is older, but it's budget-friendly and good value overall - highly recommend.

    About Almond Grove Assisted Living

Almond Grove Assisted Living is a locally owned and operated community that emphasizes good communication and resident comfort, and you'll notice right away that the building isn't too big and feels much like a comfortable home, with an intimate and friendly atmosphere throughout, and the single-story design means residents don't have to worry about stairs or elevators, which can be much easier for people who need a bit of support with mobility and the daily goings-on. The 78 units include studio and semi-private room choices, and the staff here, with Darrell Price at the lead and Ginger McCauley running the daily activities, really make an effort to know everyone and make people feel at home by treating them with kindness and paying close attention to individual needs, and the feeling of respect and dignity is very strong.

Housekeeping, laundry, and linen services are covered, so residents don't have to fuss over chores, and there are personal care aides and medication technicians who help around the clock with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, transferring, medication reminders, and grooming, and there's always someone there if a resident needs help in the middle of the night. Health services include a part-time nurse on staff and medication management for convenience and safety. Residents have access to on-site medical care, and care teams can support a range of needs including independent living, assisted living, and memory care, and there's eligibility for the Assisted Living Waiver Program through Medi-Cal, as well as acceptance of Medicaid and Medicare.

Almond Grove focuses a lot on keeping daily life interesting, with Ginger McCauley overseeing a busy calendar of structured activities, so you'll see horticultural projects, tabletop games, arts and crafts, literary activities, and lots of recreational events, plus educational programs, music, and regular outings that help residents stay connected and active inside and out of the building, and Ginger makes sure the activities are tailored so everyone has something to look forward to. The facility includes many communal spaces like an elegant dining room where people are encouraged to sit together for meals, involving well-balanced, home-cooked food prepared by chefs and planned by registered dietitians, including options for special dietary needs and alternative menus, making meal times both safe and social, and they really try to include everyone, even those with dietary restrictions.

Amenities are modern but not flashy, and there's a cozy library, a theater, an activity area with games and crafts, a piano, computer room, and entertainment venues for events, and a coffee shop that's popular with both residents and guests, and there's also a salon for hair care. Residents can relax in the outdoor patio, meet friends at the front entrance, or join community programs in the activity spaces, and the facility offers Wi-Fi and internet access in units, as well as cable or satellite TV in both rooms and common areas. For staying active, they offer fitness programs such as Tai Chi, yoga, and stretching classes.

Parking is available for both residents and visitors, and transportation services can be arranged to help residents get to appointments or visit nearby resources and attractions, making it easy to stay connected to family and the outside community. Staff work hard to support residents' dignity, independence, and quality of life, offering the type of help people need without intruding on personal space, and the building is kept clean and inviting. People here seem to settle in well, enjoying a variety of hobbies, games, and music, and there's a real focus on helping everyone maintain as much independence as possible, which many families appreciate. The setting is warm and convivial, and the team pays careful attention to comfort and safety, helping folks feel truly at home at Almond Grove Assisted Living.
