    Caring attentive family-run care home

I placed my mom here and I'm very grateful - the staff are kind, attentive, professional and proactive in a cozy, family-run home with an excellent staff-to-resident ratio. Rooms and common areas are spotless, meals are hot, varied and nutritious (full-time chef), and residents enjoy activities, a wrap-around deck and a manicured yard. Her health and mood improved, she's made friends, and administrative communication has been flexible and helpful. One caveat: it's a small, open facility not specialized for advanced memory care and could be risky for residents who wander.

    About Shearwater Senior Living

Shearwater Senior Living is a small, family-owned community in Orangevale with room for only 16 residents, so everyone gets to know each other well and the care feels personal. The staff works around the clock, and there's a full-time chef making nutritious meals for residents, who can enjoy their food together family-style. Residents have their own private rooms in a cozy home-like setting with a bright sun-filled activity room and a large wrap-around deck, so there's plenty of space for visits and time outside if the weather's nice. The place is licensed by California (License #: 342700184), and the on-site team provides help with daily things like bathing, getting dressed, and managing medications, plus laundry and yard work, so residents don't have to worry about chores.

People who live here can join in on daily activities like music, arts and crafts, board games, gardening, pet therapy, movie nights, and even enjoy outside entertainment when it's scheduled. There's also a fitness center, game room, library, walking paths, gathering spaces, and gardens, so seniors have places to exercise, walk, or just relax with others. Transportation is available for trips around the area, and the staff will coordinate with healthcare providers to address any medical needs. They support many types of care, including independent living for healthy seniors wanting freedom from maintenance, assisted living for those who need some daily help, memory care for folks with dementia or Parkinson's, and even home, comfort, or hospice care when those needs arise.

Staff includes awake night care aides, so someone is always up and available, plus the community is pet-friendly and handicap accessible, with Wi-Fi for anyone who wants to keep in touch online. Special diets can be accommodated, and professionals create personalized care plans for each resident based on individual routines and preferences, so it's a supportive setting that tries to make life comfortable and meaningful in the later years. The open floor plan encourages folks to chat and interact, and families say the staff is friendly, helpful, and kind, something recognized with a "Most Friendly" and "Best of Senior Living" award for the quality of care and community feel. The gallery and poem offered as resources can help families get a better sense of the environment, and everything is overseen with close attention to creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging place for seniors to live.
