    Cozy caring home with issues

I placed my loved one in this cozy, very clean four-bedroom home and I'm very satisfied with the loving, patient, deeply caring staff - the director is an earthly angel who gives excellent attention. Meals are homemade from scratch and mostly wonderful, though I wish the food variety/quality were better. It's pricier (we negotiated), activities are very limited, showers may require an outside agency, and there was an upsetting incident with clothes discarded without permission; the house is also a bit dark. Despite those issues, I would recommend this small, personal place for the compassionate care.

    About Absolute Care Home

Absolute Care Home sits in a quiet part of Oxnard, CA, near St. John's Medical Regional Center, Fire Station No. 8, and College Park, and the place has a very home-like feeling with space for just six residents, so folks end up forming nice bonds with the staff and each other, and you'll see private bathrooms, indoor and outdoor common areas, as well as a garden where folks can go for garden walks or just sit outside for fresh air. The rooms come fully furnished-you can pick from studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom units-and they keep the place clean with regular housekeeping, laundry, and room cleaning, plus there are kitchens and kitchenettes in the living areas, washers and dryers, and cable or satellite TV in the rooms, and there's always access to Wi-Fi and high-speed internet, so residents can keep in touch or just watch a favorite movie during movie nights. The staff, friendly and trained, work around the clock, and nurses are on staff and on call, handling high-acuity care-including skilled nursing, diabetic care with special diets, memory care for dementia, a Dementia waiver, and Hospice waiver options-so folks get medication management, help with dietary restrictions, and full assistance with daily activities like bathing, dressing, transfers, and toileting. They help arrange doctor appointments, work with healthcare providers, and even have a visiting podiatrist for toenail care, and a pharmacy delivers medications straight to the home at no extra charge, so folks don't have to worry about missing anything. They prepare and serve three meals daily plus snacks for all residents; they take into account special diets-including diabetic plans. There's always some sort of activity, on site or off-like table games, sing-alongs with videos, movies, gentle dancing, and gardening walks-along with structured programs for social involvement, education, fitness, health, and even crafts, not to mention a dining room, a fitness center, a salon/barbershop, and a game room for leisure. Since the place is small, everything feels personal, and they make a care plan for each resident so needs get met in a way that feels right for the individual, and if someone just needs short-term or respite care, the staff can handle that, too. They also offer independent living options for those who can do more on their own, but plenty of help's there if needed, including wheelchair and walking assistance and physical and occupational therapy availability. There's resident parking, guest parking, and complimentary transportation to medical appointments, and the premises stay secure with safety features, handrails, a sprinkler system, and no indoor smoking allowed. Only elderly men and women get admitted, and the place holds a proper license, number 565801201, as a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly, which covers folks needing personal care, assisted living, memory support, or skilled nursing services-all delivered with a focus on helping seniors feel welcome, comfortable, and safe, and the environment, quiet and private, lets residents enjoy both community and peace.
