    Great caregivers, terrible management, unsafe

I wanted to love this place - many caregivers were exceptional, compassionate, and skilled in memory care, the facility was spotless, and staff handled sundowning patiently. But my overall experience was awful: management is chaotic (absentee ownership, a pending sale to for-profit SRG, and on-site admin with no real authority), communication is poor, and residents aren't getting the value they pay for. Service issues piled up - slow valet, no shuttle, an understaffed salon, doors that don't auto-open - and I encountered rude, sometimes abusive staff, missing/soiled clothing, and reports of mistreatment. In short: great frontline caregivers and clean facilities couldn't overcome terrible administration, safety concerns, and unpredictability.

    About Fountainview at Gonda

Fountainview at Gonda sits in Playa Vista and has 286 beds in a mid-rise building, offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing home services, and outpatient rehab, so residents have many care choices as their needs change, and all with a pet-friendly policy that lets people keep their furry or feathered friends nearby, which is nice when you think about how much pets mean to folks as they get older. The apartments come in one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts and they're fully furnished, with private bathrooms, kitchens or kitchenettes, air-conditioning, cable, WiFi, and even stylish touches with modern appliances and good views, so people do feel comfortable and at home. The dining program, called Tastebud Euphoria, gets known for quality meals made by chefs and planners, and the routine includes housekeeping and linen service for easy living. Fountainview at Gonda holds up its side of healthcare with daily assistance for bathing, dressing, transfers, medication help, and focused mental wellness programs, offering services for diabetes, dementia, non-ambulatory needs, incontinence, and even hospice. Nursing staff stay on 12 to 16 hours daily and there's a 24-hour call system for backup.

Activities always come up, whether resident-run or scheduled by the community, with daily events, planned trips out, book clubs, art classes, yoga, and a full calendar of cultural events, and they've got special programs too, like Zestful Living for wellness and the Enliven Creative & Adaptive Memory Care for memory care that's month-to-month with no entrance fee, which helps families not feel locked in. The building itself took awards for its sleek, airy Gensler design, and common areas like the dining room, fitness and gaming rooms, small library, wellness center, garden, outdoor space, roof pool, and even a salon and computer center give people lots of places to gather, plus community-sponsored transportation for trips and errands. They also run devotional and spiritual activities, mind-body therapies, and plenty of social events so there's always something on the go, and the residents seem to build a friendly, helpful vibe that keeps folks engaged and less alone. Fountainview at Gonda sticks with its Residential Care Facility for the Elderly license-#198602384-and you see signs of careful planning all around, aiming to make a safe and comfortable spot for seniors looking for more than just a place to live. There's diabetic care, non-ambulatory support, respite care for caregivers who need a break, various health services, and specialized types of care for different needs, all while keeping that walkable coastal California feeling for anyone wanting sun, parks, or breezy outdoor spaces a short stroll away. While there's no online brochure to grab, the place lives up to a reputation for good meals, active programs, and a well-kept environment, which folks who've seen a few homes can appreciate all the more.
