    Home-like care with excellent staff

I live here and have been very pleased: long-tenured, kind caregivers and a well-run administration provide knowledgeable care-even for complex needs like quadriplegia. The two chefs serve restaurant-style, well-balanced meals (soft options available), and rooms are spacious-newer buildings have private baths while some in the largest building share baths. Activities are varied (bingo, puzzles, karaoke, live music, occasional piano) though not nonstop; the grounds are park-like and hospice care is excellent. COVID protocols worked (no infections), staff are genuinely caring, and overall it feels like a home and very good value.

    About Huntington Manor

Huntington Manor is a senior living community located in Poway, California, surrounded by a canopy of trees and with views of Twin Peaks nearby, and right now the place is still under construction but coming soon, so there's that bit where everyone's working to get things ready, but by the sounds of what's being put together, it'll be a licensed RCFE community over 2.5 acres, with quiet gardens and a peaceful setting, chicken coop and koi pond included, and birdsong in the background most days while folks walk along the paths or sit out in the courtyard. The place will also have private apartments along with common areas, a dining room, library access, and a lounge where you can spend time with friends or maybe just sit with a book. A team of trained and friendly caregivers will be there all day and night to help with activities like bathing, dressing, walking, and taking medicines, plus they'll look after safety and make sure each resident gets the right support, even if needs change later on. Huntington Manor is part of Zeal Senior Living, which handles the care services and amenities, like meal preparation by an in-house culinary team that works with a dietitian to meet individual diets, so folks with diabetes or allergies are taken care of and meals come three times a day, with snacks, and there's all-day dining so you're not stuck to a set time. There are programs and planned activities like movie nights, arts, educational classes, celebrating the holidays, and regular outings too, and things like move-in coordination, housekeeping, laundry, and transportation all woven in, trying to make the whole place run smooth and feel comfortable, a bit like an exclusive, relaxed home. The team offers medication management and mobility assistance, and there's a 24-hour call system for emergencies, along with physical therapy and non-ambulatory or high-acuity care support, even Hoyer lifts if needed, or hospice waiver services. Huntington Manor has options for both assisted living and memory care, so those with Alzheimer's or dementia get secure, specialized help, and it also offers short-term and respite stays for recovery or when a caregiver needs a break. Residents can get involved in resident-led activities, use the arts room, garden, or just watch the chickens for a while, and every part of the campus aims for peace of mind and safety, including emergency alert systems, housekeeping, and clear communication with families and medical providers. The place holds a state license and has ALW approval, contracts with Kaiser and San Diego PACE, and says it keeps up with all the rules set by the state, reporting zero deficiencies at inspections. While Huntington Manor isn't open yet and it's still being built, the plan is to provide a secure, comfortable home with plenty of ways for people to connect and stay active, with the flexibility to get more help as needs grow.
