    Caring staff, cozy home, limited

I've been impressed by the genuinely caring, attentive staff who know residents by name, treat families like family, and create a homey, loving atmosphere with hugs, handholding, and 24/7 availability. The chef's meals, birthday treats, regular bingo and holiday parties, clean quiet spaces, and affordable pricing stand out. However, rooms are small, activities and menu variety are limited, and there's no on-site 24-hour nursing - I've seen miscommunication, occasional missing items/laundry issues, and some management concerns. Overall I recommend it for seniors who need compassionate, family-style care but not for those requiring intensive medical support or larger private space.

About A Touch Of Heaven Assisted Living

A Touch Of Heaven Assisted Living in Redding, California, is a family-owned place that's run by folks who put kindness and respect first, and the owner Brenda makes everything feel warm and home-like, so it's easy to see why many say the staff feels like an extended family, especially with devoted caregivers who work closely with every resident, doing what they can to make everyone comfortable and encourage them to join activities, keep busy, and enjoy their days. The building holds up to 28 seniors and has been going strong for 17 years, so there's been plenty of time to work out a good routine, with both private and semi-private rooms, kitchens or kitchenettes in living spaces, private bathrooms, air conditioning, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and telephone service, and the accommodations come fully furnished or you can bring some personal touches, which helps people settle in quickly.

There's round-the-clock supervision with 24-hour awake staff and a 24-hour call system, and a nurse or other helpers are always close by for folks who have memory care needs or need help with things like bathing, dressing, moving around, or taking medicine. They do a good job serving both folks who get around just fine and those who need more help, offering ambulatory and non-ambulatory services, and they allow for hospice care when that time comes, always keeping privacy in mind with strong confidentiality policies. With a secured perimeter and specialized programs for memory care, seniors with dementia or Alzheimer's can get extra support, and staff are trained for this, with activities made just for those needs, plus safety and accessibility features like sprinkler systems, outside security, and handicap-accessible paths.

The meals are organic, with three home-cooked dishes every day made by a gifted chef, and they'll meet special dietary needs like allergies or diabetes, plus snacks, drinks, and coffee are available anytime someone wants them, and the dining room serves food at all hours in a restaurant-style setting, giving folks the freedom to eat how and when they want. Regular housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, and linen service mean nobody has to worry about chores, which is nice for seniors who want a maintenance-free lifestyle and the option to just focus on enjoying themselves, taking care of a pet, or sitting in the shady gazebo. Residents can join in on social events like arts and crafts, games, movie nights in the in-house theater, community festivals, fun holiday parties, lunch and movie outings, fitness classes in the fitness center, and strolls along walking paths or in the courtyard, and they offer both scheduled and resident-planned activities to keep life interesting.

Seniors get help getting to appointments with transportation provided, and transportation can be arranged for other trips too, with good parking available for guests and visits, and if families can't visit in person, they offer virtual tours and visits so everyone can stay in touch. A Touch Of Heaven Assisted Living works with long-term care insurance but doesn't take Medicare or Medi-Cal, so it's private pay, though many describe the place as budget friendly. There's a library for reading, a game room for cards or puzzles, a salon/barbershop with a professional hair stylist, spa treatments, and a garden for anyone who likes gardening or just wants some fresh air, with a dog named Coal to play catch with out on the lawn.

All in all, it's a welcoming, safe place for retired seniors, whether folks need just a little help or have memory care needs, with choices in private or shared rooms, personalized care plans, nurses for medical needs, occupational therapy, help with everyday things like dressing, bathing, getting around, and medicine, and a calendar full of social and wellness programs, where the daily routine is built around the idea that every resident should feel at home, valued, and independent as much as possible, surrounded by people who know what they're doing and care about each person in their care.
