    Inattentive staff, lies, unsafe care

I placed my husband here and found staff inattentive, caregivers ignoring residents and unaware of basic procedures, with poor communication throughout. The owners lied about admission and the care plan - it felt like fraud and a clear focus on money. Medications were kept in an unlocked garage basement and other safety concerns were ignored. After an expensive transfer my husband died and I only received a partial refund. I would not place my mother here.

    About Horizon Home

Horizon Home sits in Redding, California, in a quiet spot close to the Little Country Church, so folks who want to attend religious events can do so, and it's not far from places like Walgreens Pharmacy and From The Hearth Cafe if you need to pick up medicine or want something to eat or drink, and the house itself is a small, home-like setting that only has spots for six residents, making it a pretty close-knit and friendly place, and the care team focuses on giving personalized attention all day and night, offering help with things like bathing, dressing, moving around, toileting, and laundry, and they also manage medication, support people after surgery, and handle wound care and other medical needs with nurses and therapists visiting from time to time. Horizon Home is licensed under California's Residential Care Home for the Elderly, license #455002744, and takes in seniors for assisted living, memory care, respite care, and even independent living or long-term nursing if that's needed, and anyone dealing with memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer's will find a special set of supports here, with a safe environment designed to keep people from wandering and programs to help folks stay mentally and socially involved, and the community does activities like movie nights, games, arts and crafts, exercise classes, and outings, while meals come restaurant-style with flexible choices-vegetarian, vegan, kosher, no salt, no sugar, and options for room service anytime. There's Wi-Fi, cable TV, washers and dryers, and landscaped gardens with walking paths so people can go outside for fresh air or a stroll, and if you use a wheelchair, everything's set up for easy access, and transportation can be arranged if someone needs a ride, plus there are emergency alert systems and sprinkler systems to help keep people safe. Housekeeping and cleaning come with the room, and private kitchens or kitchenettes mean people can sometimes fix their own meals if they want. The staff at Horizon Home try to develop close relationships with each resident, encourage friendships, and support everyone's individual care plans, keeping a comforting and safe atmosphere where people can relax, recover, or enjoy their time, and the whole place runs under the name Horizon Et Al, LLC. Community reviews and ratings are available, but the home doesn't share specific prices openly, and they welcome tours if families want to come see the community and talk through what's offered.
