    Small family-like facility, caring staff

My mom has lived here six years and I'm grateful - caring, professional staff and loving caregivers in a small 17-bed, family-like facility; clean, peaceful, great community, attentive personalized care, amazing home-cooked meals and a positive end-of-life experience. Minor issues: not set up for skilled nursing, rooms/bathrooms are small, and staffing can be thin at times.

    About St Lorenz Assisted Living

St Lorenz Assisted Living is a family-owned residential care facility for the elderly in Redding, California, that's licensed by the State of California and accepts adults 55 and over. The place has 17 private rooms with Jack-and-Jill bathrooms, cable TV in each room, wireless internet throughout, and wheelchair access, so residents can get around with ease. The whole building has a home-like, casual setting with a loving, caring atmosphere, and the owners are medical professionals with over 50 years of experience who put a lot of focus on quality and peace of mind for everyone living there. The staff gives 24-hour non-medical support and help with all daily living activities like dressing, bathing, toileting, medication management, meal preparation, laundry, and housekeeping.

Residents eat home-cooked meals served family-style, with daily snacks, and the staff can personalize care for complex needs including chronic conditions, mobility challenges, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia. The perimeter is secured for memory care residents, and the entire property is equipped with safety features like sprinklers and walk-in showers. St Lorenz Assisted Living also features group activities and spaces including a central living room, dining area, outdoor patio, and a garden, which all encourage social interaction. People can enjoy arts and crafts, bingo, gardening, movies, fitness classes, live music, pet therapy, and festive parties like visits from Santa and elves during holidays.

The facility is a private pay provider, so Medicare and Medi-Cal don't cover costs. A site visiting physician and a dedicated Assisted Living Placement Specialist help with admission, which needs required forms like a TB test and physician's report. There's respite care, hospice care, and total care services if needed, and pets are allowed for some residents. Every care plan is tailored for the individual, and the building is kept intimate so staff can give each resident close attention. The overall goal here is to keep everyone comfortable, independent, and safe, with expert caregivers nearby at all times, whether that's for medication reminders, help with personal care, or just some extra companionship throughout the day. More about the facility and its unique features can be found on the website saintlorenz.com.
