    Clean modern living, caring staff

I live here and overall I'm very happy - clean, modern, apartment-style units (spacious 2-bed, private patio, grab bars), friendly and compassionate staff, and good independent-living resources. The location is great (walkable to Nugget Market, library, shopping); there's a pool with water aerobics, bingo, transportation and Meals on Wheels. Downsides: weekends can be quiet/boring, some safety/enforcement issues (unleashed dogs seen), and the base price comes with many costly add-ons; meals are prepared off-site with limited vegetarian options. I felt well cared for and would give it 5/5 overall, with caveats about activity level, cost, and a few safety/management concerns (including one short-notice vacate experience).

About ACC Greenhaven Terrace: Senior Apartments & Assisted Living

ACC Greenhaven Terrace: Senior Apartments & Assisted Living sits in Sacramento, right near shops and local services, and you'll find dogs and cats around because pets are welcome here, which isn't something you see everywhere, and sometimes you'll see people out by the fountains or in the community garden, which stays well-kept throughout the year. Folks living here have a choice between one or two-bedroom apartments with plenty of space, full kitchens, walk-in closets, a patio or balcony, and extra storage outside, and you'll notice they have features like dishwashers, garbage disposals, and the regular perks like heating and air conditioning, so no need to worry about being comfortable during any season. The building, which is three stories tall and was built in 2000, offers both independent and assisted living, so residents aged 62 and above can get the kind of care they need at different stages, with 24 licensed assisted living apartments on the second floor and memory care apartments if someone develops cognitive issues.

Residents often gather in the sunny courtyards, swim in the pool, walk the paths, or join in community activities like water aerobics, yoga, and tai chi, while the big open dining room lets folks share meals, which are prepared by professional chefs, three times a day, with dietary preferences considered. There's a fitness room, library, computer room, activity spaces, a beauty salon, and even a theater room for movies, and people can join in card games, bingo, or join groups like the ukulele and vocal groups that meet regularly. Some areas are just for women, while others are for both men and women, and family members who visit have easy parking and can use spacious indoor common areas.

The care here covers basic needs, with help available for daily tasks like bathing, dressing, medication, and keeping up with laundry or housekeeping, and there are on-site nurses and a podiatrist who visits, which helps with foot care that can be hard to find elsewhere. The place is set up so someone can live here alone or as part of a couple, with emergency call pendants and care staff available any hour, and residents can expect weekly linen changes and cleaning, plus all utilities except phone and cable included. The community offers free shuttle rides under the ACC Rides program, so getting to stores or appointments isn't a hassle, and even folks who don't drive don't feel cut off.

Greenhaven Terrace runs a set of wellness and learning classes, about 50 sessions each week, with supportive programs like caregiver support, utility education, and job help for seniors, all meant to include residents as much as they want in daily life. There's a real focus on making friends, staying as active as possible, and keeping people involved mentally and physically for as long as they're able. The place has received a 5-star Medicare rating since 2013 and was recognized with a Silver Award from the American Health Care Association, which means the quality of care is regularly checked and kept at a high level. Residents and their families often mention the friendly and respectful atmosphere, which feels more like an extended family, and the staff are noted for being helpful and courteous, without being overbearing. The assisted living section has private studio and one-bedroom options, personal bathrooms, and is set up for both singles and couples, with specific help for those who need extra support.

Overall, ACC Greenhaven Terrace offers flexible living for older adults looking for independence, help with daily tasks, or memory care, and all the shared amenities and active programs mean that folks have plenty to do and the help they need, without feeling like they're giving up what matters most to them.
