    Warm staff, good food, dated

I toured and felt immediately welcomed - staff are genuinely warm, compassionate and treat residents like family. Care is solid, rooms are bright and clean, the courtyard and activities keep residents engaged, and dining (Chef Glen) is generally excellent though meals can be lukewarm or limited at times. The building shows its age - parking, Reseda Blvd noise and occasional maintenance/cleanliness issues were concerns - and recent price increases made it unaffordable for us. Overall I would recommend it for families who value caring staff, good food and active programming, but insist on a meal visit and clear pricing before committing.

    About Savant of Tarzana

Savant of Tarzana sits in a secure spot with comfortable, large apartments, some with patios or balconies, and offers both private and shared suites for those who want their own space or don't mind sharing, and I tell you, you notice the roomy feel right away when you walk in, especially with the natural light making it all seem open and welcoming, and folks can bring their pets along because the place is pet-friendly, which means you might see a small dog wagging its tail in the hallways or a cat sunning itself by a window. You've got a full range of care levels here, like assisted living, independent living, memory care, nursing homes, and continuing care retirement options, plus there's respite care for short stays if someone needs a break or help while their caregiver is away. The staff includes experienced nurses and a Med Tech to help with health needs, and there's medication management along with help for bathing, dressing, and managing personal needs like grooming or even moving from a chair to a bed, plus incontinence care when needed, and they check in on folks fairly regularly to make sure all's well.

The community puts a focus on the four pillars of successful aging, which are exercise, connection, nutrition, and having purpose, so there are fitness classes, walking paths, gardening areas, and creative workshops for residents who like to keep busy or meet neighbors, and you can always find a daily activity- sometimes it's a movie in their theater, music in the lounge, or art lessons, sometimes just a good book from the library or time in the salon. Meals are cooked by a chef, and if someone needs a special diet, like no-salt-added or fewer sweets, those requests are handled, and meal prep and housekeeping are included, so you don't have to worry about cooking or cleaning. Residents get escorts to meals or events if they need help getting around, plus transportation for trips outside, and there's a parking area on site too if anyone still has a car.

Staff stick around for years which helps make the place feel steady and friendly, and it's clear they want to offer real care, not just check off a list, so you've got emergency alert systems in every apartment for peace of mind, and there's always someone on staff, all day and all night. Location-wise, Savant of Tarzana's close to recreational and cultural spots like Corbin Canyon Park, Tarzana Center, the Museum of the San Fernando Valley, and health care at UCLA Medical Center and Saint John Health Center. The state of California has licensed the community under license number 197610366, and there's an entry fee of $2,000. People who move in can expect coordination with doctors and outside healthcare when needed, periodic check-ins from staff, and a set of services meant to make life easier and more comfortable for older adults.
