    Thriving mom with caring staff

I placed my mom at Brio Manor and couldn't be happier - she's thriving. The hands-on owner and truly caring, well-trained staff (Melissa, Beth and Ellen especially) provide resident-centered, attentive care; meals are made from scratch, the house is clean, recently renovated, sunny and cozy with a sweet dog, and the team goes above and beyond. Great value and peace of mind - highly recommend, with the only downside being occasional noisy/parking/visitor disturbances outside.

About Brio Manor Board and Elderly Care

Brio Manor Board and Elderly Care sits at 115 Thames St in Thousand Oaks, California, pretty close to Los Robles Hospital, and folks living here can get to nearby parks, senior centers, and libraries, which makes it easy to get out and relax or join activities if they want. This facility is a board and care home licensed by the state, with License #565801899, and cares for people aged 60 and older, serving residents who need help with daily tasks like dressing, bathing, and grooming, and they've got 24-hour staffing for supervision and health support. Residents can choose private or semi-private rooms that come furnished or unfurnished and each room has personal amenities like private baths, wheelchair accessible showers, and access to washers and dryers. They serve three home-cooked meals every day, including vegetarian and kosher options if needed, and they're able to handle special diets and meal planning too.

Brio Manor provides both assisted living and memory care, so residents with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia can get secure and focused help, and the building's set up for those needing different levels of care, whether they're ambulatory or not. For short stays, they offer respite care to let primary caregivers take a break and also provide hospice care to support comfort and dignity during end-of-life stages, with a license to operate under hospice programs. They handle medication management, diabetes support, wound care, incontinence care, and even help with transfers, and they'll work with a resident's current medical team and doctors as needed.

The home keeps a clean, professional, and friendly atmosphere where staff look out for everyone's respect, dignity, and independence, and the environment is set up to feel comfortable and safe with security for residents who need memory care. There's cable TV, Wi-Fi, outdoor patio areas, game rooms, and sitting areas, plus both indoor and outdoor common areas, so residents have places to relax or join in on community-sponsored activities, social programs, education, arts and crafts, and games. They also offer fitness facilities and an onsite salon/barbershop. Friends and family can visit from 9am to 6pm and join meals in the dining room.

Brio Manor gives transportation to medical appointments, helps with getting around for a cost or complimentary, and even has a beautician who comes onsite. They recommend that families check licensing, staff ratios, inspection records, and to schedule a visit before making a decision, and they're open to talking with family and doctors about a resident's health needs, if a skilled nursing facility is better, or if assisted living is right. Room prices start at $8,000 to $12,000 for private and $7,000 to $10,000 for semi-private, and they work with families on financing options, including Medicare and Medicaid when possible. The home supports seniors who enjoy a quieter lifestyle, helps those with high acuity and non-ambulatory needs, and aims to help residents age in place, with a strong focus on safety, companionship, and keeping everyone as active and healthy as possible.
