    Compassionate, honest small home-like care

I found the staff compassionate and authentic - Gigi was honest and supportive - the facility was clean, served home-cooked meals, helped navigate medical care, and even followed up compassionately after my mom's passing. It's a small, focused place with transparent pricing and, in my view, worth the extra $200-$300/month for the respect and better care. Furnishings were a bit worn and many residents stayed in their rooms, so it felt sad at times and may not suit every family, but I trust them and chose them as one of my options.

    About Village Care

Village Care sits in Valley Village, CA, at 12245 Califa Street, and offers a six-bed senior residential care home where folks can get different types of support like assisted living, memory care, independent living, or even stay in a residential care home, so you see people with all kinds of needs moving in here, and the whole setup is more of a house than an institution, which makes things feel a bit warmer for everybody, now the place is pretty good with a 4.5-star rating, and you can pick private or semi-private rooms, all of which have wheelchair accessible showers and private baths, so people dealing with mobility problems manage fine, and you'll see common spaces inside and out where residents spend time talking, playing games, or just watching the garden, and the meals come three times a day with snacks, along with special diets being taken care of like vegetarian or diabetic needs without much fuss. Pets are allowed, though there's no smoking inside anywhere public or private, so you won't get that smell in the halls or dining room, and for those worried about medical care, there's always a doctor and nurse on call, plus licensed nurses and caregivers around 24/7, so even high acuity or residents with incontinence get the care they need, and those who need help with daily things like bathing, getting dressed, or dealing with medication don't have to wait for help, because someone's always awake to check on things. Memory care's built in here too, so people with dementia and Alzheimer's live in a secured community for safety, and there are exercise sessions every day, as well as group activities, movie nights, and even off-site outings since they offer rides both for appointments and for fun trips.

Men, women, or both can live at Village Care, and the place stays full of life with devotional gatherings, quarterly social events, and more activities than one might expect from such a small group home, plus there's a beauty and barber service, so people don't have to leave the house to get their hair done. Laundry and housekeeping come as standard, so no one's stuck with chores, and there's even a podiatrist and therapies like physical, occupational, and speech work available if needed. Hospice and respite care are part of what Village Care does, making it easier for families who are looking for temporary help or end-of-life care, and there's always a plan made for each person so their needs get met as things change. The house stands in a quiet neighborhood in Valley Village, close to public transport, and resident parking's available for those who drive, so folks stay connected if they want, and with all these things lined up, it's a comfortable and safe place for seniors who want a smaller, home-like community and personal care without all the noise of larger facilities.
