    Spacious unit, friendly staff, drawbacks

I toured Ivy Hall and would recommend it. The staff are friendly, helpful and responsive - they fixed problems quickly. My spacious unit had a balcony and walk-in closet, and the grand entry, exceptional outdoor grounds, theater, ice cream parlor, dog visits, group walks and physical therapy were big positives; emergency call buttons and flat-rate competitive pricing helped too. Downsides: small facility, understaffed with limited resident interaction, a noticeable "old person" smell in common areas, manager often absent, and it's farther from home with tight parking.

    About Ivy Hall

Ivy Hall Assisted Living, now permanently closed, used to sit on State Bridge Road in Johns Creek, Georgia, though some sources called the location Alpharetta, and it had a good reputation among families, getting about 4.5 stars in thirteen reviews, so it shows that people thought well of the help and care they found there for their loved ones, and really, the place offered a range of living options like studio and one-bedroom apartments, single or semi-private rooms, all licensed by the state for assisted living and memory care, and it served adults aged 55 and over, which means it was open to a wide group of seniors needing different types of support. Residents used to get daily help with things like bathing, dressing, moving around, and even managing their medicine, and nurses stayed on staff with extra nurse support on call, so there was always someone able to help when a need or emergency came up, and all apartments had wheelchair accessible showers. The staff stayed professionally trained, making sure to offer both physical and emotional support, and for more complicated needs like physical, speech, and occupational therapy, as well as respite and hospice or even home care, Ivy Hall made those services available, so people who had to move on from home but needed some medical help could feel safe and cared for. The meals were made on site, three a day, by a professional chef, and served restaurant-style, which people seemed to enjoy, and they always made sure everyone got proper nutrition. You'd find a nice mix of things to do, both onsite and offsite, like games, resident bands and music, bridge clubs, devotional groups, Bible study, and even movie times since they had their own small movie theater, and the place always tried to have activities to help folks connect with each other and keep their social lives going strong, whether someone liked cards, ice cream, or walking paths outside. Ivy Hall also had a library, game rooms, and even an ice cream parlor, and they let residents keep small pets as long as it fit with their pet-friendly policy. Beautician services were on site too, so folks didn't have to leave for a haircut or hair set, and there was always help arranging moves in and coordinating new residents, and if you needed to visit the doctor or wanted to go out, there was complimentary transportation, plus resident parking if you still drove. Safety was important, so they had an emergency alert system and a 24-hour call system to keep people as safe as possible. Pricing was all-inclusive with an entry fee, and they let families know upfront what to expect for the cost, and there were different floor plans to choose from, seven in total, which gave a little flexibility. Ivy Hall made efforts to help residents transition smoothly, for example, through personalized care plans, thinking about what each person needed, and in memory care, which is sometimes called Alzheimer's care, they offered programming to keep those residents active and comfortable too. While the facility is closed now, it certainly tried to create a wholesome, supportive community for seniors, making sure their residents felt at home, safe, and engaged with plenty of help when needed.
