    Excellent therapists; dietary, staffing concerns

I found the facility clean and welcoming, and the staff-CNAs, therapists and nurses I dealt with-were caring, friendly and skilled; rehab therapists helped make real progress. Meals and dietary management were disappointing, especially for diabetics (high-carb/sugary items and poor substitutions), and dietary staff seemed undertrained. Care was inconsistent and often understaffed-delays in therapy, busy or inattentive shifts, worse on weekends-and I felt there's a need for higher-paid techs and a 24/7 RN. Communication and administration were uneven (sometimes condescending), and I had infection-control and entrance-monitoring concerns. Overall I'd recommend the Oaks for short-term rehab because of the excellent therapists and clean facility, but go in prepared to advocate strongly for dietary needs, staffing and clear communication.
