    Lovely facility but understaffed; cautious

I have mixed feelings. The building and common areas are lovely, the administrator and many staff are kind, caring and accommodating, meals and activities are good and my loved one often seems clean, well-fed and happy. However, the place is understaffed - call buttons are slow, I rarely see nurses/techs in the halls, and that understaffing shows in cleanliness and care lapses (dirty carpets/floors, handrails/doors not wiped, urine smell, belongings not unpacked, residents not turned). With more staff this could be a five-star facility; I'd recommend it cautiously and urge management to push for additional help.

About The Oaks-Scenic View (Assisted Living)

The Oaks-Scenic View in Baldwin, GA, is an assisted living community for adults 55 and older who need some help but want to live as independently as possible, and it's designed with special features and services for seniors, so you'll see things like furnished rooms-studio, one-bedroom, semi-private, or two-bedroom-plus dining rooms, gardens, and safe walking paths, all built with easy access and comfort in mind, and there are emergency alert systems and staff available all day and night to help with bathing, dressing, moving from one place to another, and making sure medications are managed right, with care levels divided into low, medium, and high, and the fees for those go by month with a $200, $400, or $600 cost as needed, and there's a $500 community fee and a $100 daily respite fee for short stays.

Residents get daily meals with options for special diets like allergies or diabetes, and the staff can check blood sugar but can't give insulin shots, so anyone with diabetes needs to be able to handle that part themselves, and incontinent residents are expected to manage their care, plus for those who need help getting around, staff offers standby support for transfers, but not full lift assistance, so some mobility is necessary.

The Oaks-Scenic View feels like a mid-size small hometown spot, with plenty of social, spiritual, and recreational activities, like movie nights, exercise, crafts in an art room, resident-run events, and group devotional services held both on the grounds and off, and there are indoor and outdoor common rooms, community gardens, Wi-Fi, and even a barber or salon on site, with transportation included for errands, medical visits, and community outings, to make life a little easier and lessen worries about upkeep or travel.

Their team includes nurses, aides, physical, occupational, and speech therapists who come by to help when needed, and skilled nursing, pharmacy, infusion, hospice, home health, palliative, and personal care services are offered through programs like Home First for those who qualify. The environment is cozy and relaxed, aiming for all residents to feel safe, cared for, and engaged, with family visits encouraged. Payment options include private pay, Social Security, veteran's benefits, and private insurance, so people can find what works for them. Outdoor smoking is allowed on site, and the building is licensed and verified for senior care, with tours available to see daily life or ask questions about services. The main goal here centers on giving each person individual help with respect, while keeping everyone feeling at home and connected to their neighbors, with meals, activities, and care there whenever it's needed.
