    Beautiful lake-view facility, caring staff

I placed my mom here and couldn't be more relieved: the facility is beautiful, spotless and lodge-like with lake views, spacious rooms and sensible safety features. The staff are outstanding - friendly, attentive, know residents by name, and run excellent activities and outings that have given my mom a real social life. Meals are hit-or-miss and it's on the pricey side; a few families noted occasional understaffing or management snags and it's not ideal for residents needing total hands-on care. Overall, my mom feels loved, safe, and settled.

About Cedarhurst Senior Living of Canton

Cedarhurst Senior Living of Canton sits in a peaceful part of Canton, Georgia, and tries to make life easier and safer for people 55 and older who need assisted living or memory care, and there's also help for those just wanting independent living or short-term stays like respite care or adult day care, if you need a little break as a caregiver or just a safe place during the day. The staff gets to know folks pretty well, often feeling like family, and they know how to care for people living with memory loss, since they get trained in dementia care all the time, so everyone from those needing a gentle nudge with daily tasks to those who have more complicated care needs gets the right help, even for things like help moving or taking medicine, with nurses on site and a doctor who can be called in too.

Residents live in apartments bigger than most places offer, with choices like studios, one- and two-bedroom units, or private and companion suites in memory care, and each place can have its own thermostat, walk-in shower, some even have kitchens or kitchenettes, and there are private porches and all utilities are included, which does make things easier. The property's safe, with a gated entry and secured areas in memory care to protect people who may wander or have behavioral issues, including technology like special bracelets that let staff know if someone's moved out of safe zones, which gives peace of mind for families. There are lovely outdoor walkways, covered patios with swings that look over a lake, courtyards, and spots to sit and chat or bring pets for a stroll-which pets are allowed, both cats and dogs, though there's a weight limit, and there's plenty of green space for them.

Meals come prepared by a resident chef, served in a restaurant-style dining room, and folks can give their own recipes or meal ideas, so you see menus that change with the seasons and offer choices for special diets like heart-healthy, gluten-free, diabetic-friendly, or low-sodium, plus flexible hours and noteworthy desserts, and if someone doesn't feel up to eating out, meals can come to their room. Social life's pretty lively, too, because they fill the calendar with things like concerts, holiday parties, intergenerational visits, pet therapy, music groups, and fitness classes, and both in-house and outside activities like gardening, trivia, shopping trips, or religious programs, with transportation provided when you need to go out, and family members are encouraged to join in on events. Other comforts include a movie theater, media room with a cozy fireplace, full-service salon, activity rooms, a library, and special rooms for therapy and exercise programs, and for folks who need extra support, there are onsite therapy services to help with wellness or to work towards regaining strength.

Housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance-free living come standard, so daily chores are taken care of, and staff gives help with personal care, walking, wheelchair use, transferring, and even behavioral care for those who need it. The memory care part of Cedarhurst gets special attention, with personalized care plans made with doctors and nurses checking in each week, full schedules of activities intended to help people with cognitive loss, educational programs for residents and families, and quiet spaces for when things get overwhelming, all inside a secured building that makes it possible for folks to age in place even if needs change with time.

There are parking spots for people who still drive, as well as plenty of transportation options for outings, errands, and appointments-plus the team sticks around all the time, day and night, and the community keeps things lively by partnering with local organizations and bringing in special programs, concerts, or guest speakers. Residents, families, and staff together try to make the place feel comfortable and safe, with a routine that helps everyone belong. There are also guides and tools available to help families understand pricing, what life is like at Cedarhurst, and what steps to take next, and there's always a way to ask for a tour to see things for yourself.
