    Warm professional team, pricey caveats

I moved my mother here and overall I found a warm, professional team, bright clean rooms, and plenty of activities (bingo, outings, exercise) that helped her stay engaged. Clinical coordination and nursing/therapy were strong and gave us peace of mind, and the community feels homey and well kept. That said, it's expensive (expect $6-7K+), parking and outdoor space are limited, and food/meal quality can be inconsistent. Staffing shortages and turnover have caused slow responses and inconsistent care at times, and I heard reports of rude caregivers, billing mix-ups and missing items - so stay vigilant. Memory-care suitability seemed mixed depending on needs. I'd recommend Sunrise with reservations: great people and facility, but get promises in writing and monitor care closely.

    About Sunrise of Johns Creek

Sunrise of Johns Creek is a senior living community that provides assisted living, memory care, independent living, nursing services, hospice, and respite care, and folks can find a variety of room choices including studio apartments with kitchenettes and sitting areas, one-bedroom suites, two-room suites, and companion suites that have two bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and a kitchen with dining space. The place offers private bathrooms in some rooms and there's wheelchair access throughout the building, which makes getting around easier for everyone. They've got private and semi-private rooms at different costs, and the whole place aims to help residents age in place with all levels of care as needs change, and they keep an eye out for seniors dealing with major behavior or wandering issues, with secured memory care areas, alarms, bracelets, and controlled access for safety, especially in the purpose-built third-floor memory care section and dedicated Reminiscence and Terrace Club programs for those with memory loss.

The care at Sunrise of Johns Creek is personalized with Designated Care Managers for each resident, and nurses are on staff around the clock along with a doctor who can be called when needed, and the staff can help with medication, diabetes management like insulin shots and blood sugar checks, support for incontinence, and transfers for non-ambulatory residents, even with mechanical lifts if needed. They welcome people with pets-cats and dogs-as community pets add to the homey feel, and there are outdoor gardens, courtyards, walking paths, and porches, with fresh flowers inside and nicely decorated shared spaces like a cinema room, library, lounge, sunroom, and sitting room where people can gather, and there's a beauty and barber salon too.

Residents get three meals daily from a culinary team who use fresh, seasonal foods, and the restaurant-style dining room serves regular, special, and restricted diets, like low-salt or low-sugar. They offer housekeeping, internet/Wi-Fi, emergency call systems, elevators, transportation or resident parking, and on-site visits by podiatrists, dentists, physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Activities and community programs are run by a full-time activity director and cover everything from art classes and gardening to brain fitness, trips, intergenerational events, and devotional services, both on and off-site, which help keep everyone engaged and support health in mind, body, and spirit.

Sunrise of Johns Creek accepts both short-term and long-term residents and they're set up for those needing extra help or advanced care. They provide education, events, social activity, support, and advocacy around aging, and have been a part of the Georgia Senior Living Association since 2007. Their dedicated community contact is Brooke Munson Davoudpour. The community's part of the larger Sunrise Senior Living organization, with decades of experience, and their programs like Dignity Home Care, Reminiscence, and Terrace Club are there for different needs, from early-stage memory problems to advanced care, with a focus on each resident's comfort, safety, and well-being.

    About Sunrise Senior Living

Beginning with a single community in 1981, there are now more than 280 Sunrise Senior Living communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Each of our communities maintains the mission laid out by Sunrise founders Paul and Terry Klaassen more than 40 years ago: to champion quality of life for all seniors. The Klaassens’ vision to redefine senior care resulted in a resident-centered approach to care that focuses on the individuality of each resident and has set the standard in the assisted living industry. We are defined by our people. Our team of serving hearts are guided by our mission, Principles of Service and Values – all of which help encourage independence, preserve dignity and enable freedom of choice for each resident.
