    About Ballard's PCH

Ballard's PCH is a small retirement home owned and managed by Ms. JoAnn Ballard, and it's been open for about 20 years over in Walker County. There are usually three or four assisted living units and space for up to six residents, which means folks get more personal attention from the 24-hour awake staff. The home is set up to help seniors with personal care needs, memory care, and skilled nursing, so if someone needs help with bathing, dressing, medication, or moving around, Ballard's PCH has people who can help with that any time of day or night. The place is made to be safe for people with memory loss, and it's got security systems including keyless entry, alarms, and locked doors so residents don't wander off, plus round-the-clock caregivers to help out when needed.

The home feels warm and familiar, and it has a handy mix of studios, shared apartments, and one-bedroom suites, all laid out to be easy to get around in, with emergency alert systems if someone needs help. Residents can bring small pets. There's a dining hall where folks eat home-cooked meals, and the kitchen staff works with special diets like diabetes or high blood pressure so everyone gets what they need-also they have snacks between meals and sometimes make special food for birthdays or holidays. The staff can help with feeding if needed, and there's always someone around to help with toileting, dressing, or just getting in and out of bed. There's laundry and housekeeping too, and you don't have to worry about utilities or cable since those are all included.

Ballard's PCH does a bit more than just daily help-they've got life enrichment programs like exercise classes, craft hours, movie nights, music therapy, and animal therapy to keep people involved and active. Folks can spend time in the movie room, games room, bistro, or out on the walking paths and porches. There's a reading area and library, and an on-site salon and barbershop, plus a greenhouse for folks who like to garden. If someone needs to see the doctor or do some shopping, there's transportation arranged, and they even help with spiritual outings. Ballard's PCH offers both short-term respite care or longer stays, and if a resident needs things like speech, occupational, or physical therapy, those services are available on-site too. The staff are friendly and keep regular checks on everyone's health, including fall-prevention classes, medication management, incontinence care, and help for people with Parkinson's or memory loss. Housekeeping, linen service, maintenance, and move-in help are all handled by the community, so residents and families have less to manage themselves.

Everything at Ballard's PCH is set up to be safe and comfortable, with Alzheimer's-specific programming, planned daily activities, and home-like touches. They've got a strong A+ rating with the BBB, even though they aren't officially accredited, and Ms. Ballard's long experience means she's got systems in place to help people feel cared for and part of a close-knit group. If a family needs temporary care or a more permanent home, Ballard's PCH is one place where residents can count on steady support, good food, and a simple, relaxed way of life.
