    Excellent short-term care, financial concerns

I stayed here and the place is beautiful, hotel-like and very clean, with restaurant-style dining (great, customizable food), friendly/accommodating staff, active therapy (PT/OT) and plenty of activities. That said, I experienced medication errors, slow or unresponsive nursing at times, staffing/maintenance lapses (call buttons, linens), and frustrating billing/insurance/private-pay pressure and abrupt discharges. Overall: excellent short-term rehab, great food and caring people - but be cautious about long-term placement and financial/accountability issues.

    About The Willows at Citation

The Willows at Citation sits on Silver Springs Drive in Lexington, KY, in the Griffin Gate neighborhood, and the place covers pretty much every kind of senior care you can think of, from independent living to assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, and even continuing care retirement community services, so residents don't have to move if their needs change, and the fact that it's a single-story building helps everyone get around, with wheelchair access from parking to rooms, which include studio apartments between 140 and 355 square feet. There's a strong focus on keeping folks independent, which means staff help with things like activities of daily living, housekeeping, laundry, and linen services, while offering private suites with showers and kitchens or kitchenettes where residents can handle some things on their own, and if someone needs it, restorative therapy happens right on site along with care from a physician-run clinic, so families have less to worry about. People who live here can bring their pets, and there's outdoor seating, walking paths, a resident garden, and common areas both inside and out, so socializing comes easy, and there's always something going on with daily programs, a fitness center, a salon, and activities that encourage connection. The food gets talked about, because breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all chef-prepared using good ingredients and are served in the main dining room or a private one, and folks mention the meals often in their reviews, along with friendly, helpful, and joyful staff, who give not just medical and personal care, but real companionship because trained aides are always available. Memory care services, launching in fall 2018, pay special attention to people with Alzheimer's or dementia, using environments to prevent wandering or confusion, and skilled nursing services are also on hand for short-term or long-term needs that go beyond everyday help. The Willows at Citation covers small but important things many places don't, like individually controlled air conditioning and heating, Wi-Fi, cable TV, utilities, and a 24-hour emergency alert system, and on top of that, there's transportation for appointments, shopping, or outings, as well as parking and handicap spots for residents and visitors. With recognition for strong care and good support and a community score of 9.1, folks here seem to like the mix of social connection, strong staff, and the fact that pets are welcome, and the grounds and apartments are all maintained so the place feels tidy and safe. There is credit card payment, on-site restrooms, and a library for quiet time, plus families and residents have support whenever needed, and the staff does their best to keep things running smoothly.
