    Wonderful caring staff and activities

I’m so glad I moved here — the staff are wonderful and genuinely caring, and I wish I’d moved in sooner. Care is high-quality (medication management is excellent), the community is clean and comfortable with varied meals, plenty of activities, new friends, and fun things like bingo and Wii bowling — the staff’s positive culture truly matches their motto.

    About Senior Living

Senior Living, sometimes called Creekside Village or Residences at Creekside, is a large continuing care retirement community tied to Diakon Senior Living, so that means you'll find help for many stages of aging, all in one place, whether someone needs independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, short-term rehab, or adult day services, and they've organized things so families can count on expert guidance about long-term care and insurance, and folks get care and amenities that match their needs. The community fits up to 90 residents, with private and semi-private furnished rooms set up for seniors, some with private bathrooms, air conditioning, kitchenettes, cable TV, telephones, and high-speed internet, and everything, including common spaces and hallways, is made wheelchair-accessible so mobility's never a big obstacle. There's 24-hour staff on site, a nursing team available twelve to sixteen hours each day, emergency alert systems, and supervision for both peace of mind and quick help if needed, plus they're licensed to offer these services by the state. For seniors who need daily help, the staff gives assistance with dressing, bathing, hygiene, medications, insulin by trained people, 2-person transfers for those needing extra physical support, and help for folks who can't walk on their own, and for those with memory loss, the memory care units add structure, keep wandering to a minimum, and stress routines.

Meals are cooked by professional chefs and served restaurant-style, with all-day dining in communal rooms, and the staff can adjust diets for things like high blood pressure, diabetes, food allergies, and other needs. Daily entertainment, fitness classes, art and music events, movie nights, reading rooms, and plenty of outdoor spaces-like walking trails, picnic areas, and gazebos-keep residents as active and social as they want, and scheduled transportation helps them get to doctor's appointments, shopping, church, local attractions like Antietam Battlefield, Black Rock Golf Course, and museums, or even just run errands. Wellness rooms, a sauna, a spa, barber or salon services, and even a putting green are available, and mobile stylists come in for haircuts and grooming. Housekeeping, laundry, and move-in coordination come standard, and there's a front-desk concierge to help with daily questions or coordination, plus parking for those who still drive.

Families have support services too, so they'll know what's happening and find resources around caregiving, counseling, or planning. The activity schedule gets updated to keep folks engaged, whether it's music therapy, pet therapy, board games, crafts, or outings, and both assisted and independent living residents have calendar events that invite participation, while memory care and skilled nursing focus more on stability, safe engagement, and health. They've built the places for seniors who prefer a hands-off, maintenance-free lifestyle as well as for people needing a lot of day-to-day care, and those who want the chance to stay active in retirement while downsizing. Staff are known for kindness and attention, and every part of the building's made to foster a safe, friendly, and comfortable space for each resident, with living & care needs tailored to the person rather than the other way around.
